Wasn't Mother Teresa a catholic nun?

Most fundamentalists think Catholics are going to hell because they aren't "born again"

And Pentecostals think anyone not baptized by total immersion are going to hell too! :o

That's my only comment for the day!!! The rest of you enjoy! :D

uhh, I know many pentacostals who do not believe that...that is not a fact at all. They may believe that immersion is the way described in the bible, but that does not mean they think ppl not immersed are going to hell.

And Pentecostals think anyone not baptized by total immersion are going to hell too!

I belonged to a pentecostal church when i lived back home in Canada and I never heard of such a belief. When I did move down here though I found out the Church of Christ believe that. I guess it doesn't matter but *Shrug*

They may believe that immersion is the way described in the bible, but that does not mean they think ppl not immersed are going to hell.

Agree :)

While I, on the other hand, briefly dated a Pentecostal who attended a church that DID preach that. Many Baptist churches preach the same thing. That is: Anyone "sprinkled" with water, rather than being fully immersed (to wash away the sins), has not really been baptized and will go to hell.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I didn't say that there wasn't any pentecostals who believed that, but it cannot be generalized to say that's what all pentecostals(or insert another denomination) believe.

You can't say that it "is not a fact at all". The way it is worded, if just one Pentacostal believes it, then it is a fact. Roi_Aggie did not say that ALL pentacostals believe that.

It is not a fact at all, that ALL pentacostals believe that. Do we really need to get so technical? Roi made a generalizing statement and what he said is not true of every pentacostal.

Well I do believe in full immersion but I don't believe in the if you don't do it your going to hell part of it. Baptism is a commandment but it is not something you do to earn salvation or a ticket into heaven. Works can't get you into heaven...thats just my belief though. I remember when I got down here. My issue with baptism was that I always felt pressured to do it, so I never did it cuz if I did I knew I was doing it on someone elses behalf. I wanted to do it when I felt ready to make a commitment and stand for what it represents rather than someone tell me I had to do it. I finally did get baptized (immersion) a few weeks ago but it was because "I" decided the time was right for me. My husband used to attend the Church of Christ though and he told me that one time and I was devestated. I think it's sad how people take things out of context. No where in the Bible does it ever state you need to be baptised in order to earn salvation and a way into heaven. It is asked for us but I think it's totally seperate from a salvation stand point. All it really is is a public declaration that you are going to live your life and follow Christ. Die to your ways and live for his.

Aww man I told myself I should just stay out of this thread. LoL ... I hope in the past few pages that I did post that I didn't offend anyone, that wasn't my intention. I just want to make a small comment about a few things. One, there have been a few people in here stating that they don't want to hear the word, they don't want to hear this, blah blah blah, well essentially most of this thread has been a religious debate. If you don't really want to hear it then why are they continually posting in here?

Why do I continue to post...? because I hope at some point I'll clearly get the point across that I do not hate Christians, or what they stand for and that I think if Christinaity works for them...GREAT. BUT I also hope they will be able to acknowledge that while Christianity is perfect for them, that it isn't for everyone and that just because I'm not a Christian, that I'm still able to be a good caring and compassionate person, with strong morals and that these morals don't always have to come via the bible. Just because it's a religious debate, doesn't mean a non-believer of Christianity can't have personal interest and opinions.

I guess that's my blah, blah, blah...

Yet saying that "it is not a fact at all" implies the opposite, that no pentacostals believe that. Another generalization. Which was my point.

He did overgeneralize making it sound like Pentecostals in general believe this NOT just one or so :-p

roi should say something else so we can all debate bout that too hehe

Frances, I wasn't aiming my comment at you in particular. I was just aiming it more at the ones that seemed to get really heated about someone voicing their view kind of in general and having an attitude well i don't want to hear it so shut up kind of thing. I respect your oppinion and appreciate what you've had to say and those in general that have made this discussion respectful towards all those though we all may have different views.

 I absolutely know that you don't hate Christians, and I think I have come to understand how you feel about it in past threads. I am sure many others also know you don't hate Christians. If they DO think that, then they don't know you one bit!

one more thing...for cangal...

I get what you are saying. I think you mean more ppl who come into the thread and say don't tell me, I don't want to hear about it, but the thread itself is on this topic so it seems silly. If, as I think it was you who said it or Michelle, the Christians on VJ were making preaching threads all the time, then it would be "preaching", but not when the thread is actually on the topic of this. It wasn't a Christian who started this thread, but since Christianity came up, Christians wanted to say what they believe.

Well good evening all, time to eat....:)
