PS...the ONLY issue I have with this entire thread, is that people can't seem to ever just live and let live...why should *anyone* have to be ridiculed for what they think/believe? I've seen that happening to the Christians in this thread; I haven't seen the Christians(at least not on the last many pages...I don't even remember the first several pages of the thread) being blatantly insulting to YOUR beliefs, or lack thereof. It's total ignorance to have to act that way, no matter WHAT the subject, be it religion or anything else. M.

I would take some issue with that... I DO think we've seen it a bit on this thread... P.M.

Hmmmmm I dunno maybe. I don't recall any near as blatant as some I've seen toward Christians....I could be wrong, for sure...but it's not a case of not wanting to SEE it...I really haven't. Then again, like I said...I've only been following this the last while, not all the way through as well. There have been some PRETTY nasty remarks toward Christians here, tho, I have seen that for SURE.

edited to add tho..I guess I can only speak for myself. I would never do that to someone for their beliefs..no matter what they were. If it has happened, I would include those people in the comment, for sure..it's just not necessary. M.

Right, that's exactly my point. I really can't understand how some Christians think that spreading the word of God in the way that they do could possibly give me faith.

And why would you want to learn BEFORE you had some belief???

That the thing that make Christianity not man-made, I dont have to do the convincing or the drawing, I give the word , I explain the best I know how, but in the end it is up to the person and God. God begans to work on the heart of a person who is open, it is the supernatural work of God's Spirit that draws man and show them the need for God

Questions, those of you who calling Christians offering a Gospel tract and asking for a moment of your time, do you also call the sales person on the street who offers a brochure and ask for a moment of your time, or the credit card sales men who solicits your time and attempts to hand you a form.. pushing it down your throat?

Yes. If I want to buy something, I go to the appropriate store. If I want the gospel, I'd be heading to the appropriate church. I hate being solicited for anything at any time by anyone. Solicitation is an invasion of my space and that is not acceptable. Ever!

I personally can't think of anything more insulting than saying someone is a bad or immoral person because they don't believe the same thing as you.

Merc- I think we understand eachother better now, thanks for your explanations, etc.

BTW - I consider the porno names a preference of taste and not a religious issue at all. There is room for humor in life and religion.

That is something we will just have to "agree to disagree" on. I love humor in life, I love laughing and dry senses of humor especially. And I have seen you write many funny things on VJ, that made me laugh. But I still don't think the porno thing is funny(for many reasons), we just see differently on that one.

haha, no kidding. Solicitation is a fact of life in many parts and I can't imagine what it must be like to go around being offended every time someone does it.

Christians believe they should "spread the word"

Non-believers of Christianity, who have made up their mind to either believe in something else or nothing at all, don't want to hear "the word"

That is the crux of the problem. Period. It's never going to be solved.

You did not say " I have an attitude", but where I draw my conclusion is you say that you get offended every time someone tries to give you anything you did not solicit., so what i was saying that if we live where there is always someone trying to solicit you then you must walk around with an attitude.. I would if I thought all these New Yorkers trying to give me a paper or brochure was "evading my space" and "this was not accpeptable...ever"

That is the crux of the problem. Period. It's never going to be solved.

If everyone just understood that you can't always get what you want, there would be no problem.

As a non-Christian, I understand that I will run into Christians every now and then and that I stand a chance of having to hear them talk to me about Jeeeeee-zus. It is unpleasant and annoying but I deal with it. There's a lot I have to deal with, one ten-minute conversation with one non-malicious Christian ain't gonna make my life a whole lot worse.

And I was Christian, I'd want to tell people about Jeeeeee-zus. I'd want them to be saved just like me. I'd be crazy like that, always with the Jeeeeeezus this and the Jeeeee-zus that. But you know what, I'd run into someone like ET-2004 and he'd treat me like sh!t. That'd be ok cuz Jeeeee-zus told me to expect it. And even if he didn't, it'd still be ok cuz people are like that. I'd react the same way if Frances came to me in the middle of nowhere dressed in saffron and started talking to be about the goddamn heathen Dalai Lama. That's how it is, so when ET-2004 insulted me, I'd move on to the next mark. Ok maybe I shouldn't call them marks.
