N400 while I751 is pending

Hello all,

I got a conditional green card in Dec 2015 and sent a I751 application in Sep 2017. I did receive a notice that said my case was transferred to Summit, MO in Dec 2018. It’s still pending though. In meantime I applied for my citizenship last year in Oct and just had my interview in Sep and I got approved. I didn’t receive any notice for I751 interview. So I assumed they’d cancel my pending 751 application since I got approved for citizenship. I had oath ceremony today but they said my 751 application must be approved first. Since there is no updates online, they didn’t let me do oath and let me go. I didn’t know how I’d feel since I had no idea. They said they’d send a letter for joint interview. Has anyone had the same experience? It’s just frustrating to think that it’s gonna take some time.

That sounds like a horrible omission on the part of USCIS. Not surprising, unfortunately. Lee Summit, MO is NBC, as far as I uderstand. It is very strange that no action has been taken with your application for almost a year.

I received a letter that says they are gonna reopen my n400 application and call me for an interview for 751. I just have to wait now.

Wow. This is cruel. How on Earth did they approve the N-400 without first approving your I-751?

 

I wouldn't wait if I were you. Consider making an expedite request so they prioritize your case. Grounds: 1) clear USCIS error, 2) more than 120 days (I'm guessing) since your naturalization examination.
