I was really trying to emphasize the poor writing of a site like Vox.  Applying for LPR and obtaining the GC immediately.  They, Vox, left off a lot.

Maybe Shify Shiff is a contributing writer for VOX!  LOL

We had no choice to do so and it wasn't a Presidential thing about it but Congress that made that rule and passed it. Both parties did so.

I know a woman in he Philippines, who, on a family petition, is still waiting after more than a decade.  However, once approved, she will most likely get her green card "almost immediately"

I put in for my wife 7 of her 12 brothers and sisters 7 years ago.

I had a Filipina coworker who put in for her sisters in the late 90's and the last one arrived here in 2016. The sister was so old that she had a son who was 17/18 at the time when he came to the USA with his mother. They got a letter in the mail talking about him signing up for the draft and freaked out. So she came in to work the next day and asked me about it. So I had to calm her down quite a bit.

Heh. Yeah only the bros and sis that will have kids young enough to come will use them and if take too long and they age out they will decline. They are well off there actually and it is to get their offspring a better life. I have 2 nieces now here in states on student visas. I have a few houses they can rent from me when they come and planning on a few more maybe next year. Also openning a new shop or 2 so they make money while here and pay me rent. Win win all around for all.
