I received our NOA1 about a week ago and want to be proactive in obtaining all the required documents that we will need later on. My wife to be lived in Canada for a year on a work visa and is now back in her home country of Japan.

How would *we* go about obtaining a police certificate for Canada? I searched google and nearly all results show for immigration into Canada and not for a general certificate. What's the general cost and all that jazz?

Thanks in Advance.

Scroll down to appropriate sections.  Read the instructions on how to get the police report carefully as it has changed recently

YMMV

Did mine earlier this year at the Commissionaires.  Took about 10 days. Make sure you get the Privacy Act one (I got both just as a back up and the lawyer accidentally send the one with the finger prints printed and that one got rejected).

I saw the requirement so I'll definitely make sure to get the one I need, what country did you apply for your records from? Or were you in Canada?

I traveled to Canada to do it. Apparently there are some 3rd party companies where you can send your notarized finger prints to and they will then handle the rest

Unfortunately with her work contract she can't travel back there and still visit me so I'll have to look into those types of agencies. Thanks.
