My husband is on a tourist visa in another country, so when I submitted the I130 paperwork I indicated that we wanted use that consulate where is staying currently. Will that have any effect on our spose visa process? He's staying Barbados right now but he is a Nigerian citizen.

Does he have residency there, when did you file the paperwork?

Tourist visa typically doesn't provide a basis to interview.   That would be indicative of consulate shopping,  which isn't permitted

YMMV

Barbados tourist visa is not required for citizens of Nigeria for a stay up to 90 days.

you applied in June 2019

the process is taking anywhere from 12 to 14 months and can take longer

he will need to return to Nigeria for his interview as he is a tourist not a permanent resident of Barbados

He's been there since March and we got married there in May. So he will need to return to Nigeria to do the interview since he isn't a permanent resident of Barbados?

He likely will have his interview in Lagos unless he legally resides (other than a tourist) somewhere else.

So he is beyond his authorized stay?

No they gave him an extension so he's still within the authorized period.

So he's on his 3rd extension?

None of my concerns, but it'll be interesting to know how he's been on a tour for the last 8 months. Was he also in Barbados last year?

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Why? Like for what reason is he staying there as that long doesn’t seem a valid holiday is he super rich or have a really understanding job that lets him take a vacation sabbatical.

Just what I'm thinking. Hopefully OP can clarify before we go south.

Yes an OP answer would be great at this point. He's there appropriately and not overstaying his authorization. So I just wanted to know if he would be able to do the visa interview in Barbados since he's already there and still there since I filed. Or, will he have to go back to Nigeria?

If he's super rich he can go for the EB  GC and I believe he will get it without any hustles.

Looks to me like someone trying to play the system. If interview gets scheduled whether in Barbados (as he may be hoping for) or in Lagos (likelihood), IO will be already prepared to ask about this Barbados scenario. I believe this will not be the first nor last case seen by them.

What does EB, GC & IO stand for?
