Hmm... There's not an option as to which consulate huh? I mean, it doesn't make a difference that I'm here on the Western side of Canada as opposed to all the way over on the East? I would think that would have some bearing on how they direct the applications. Wouldn't that make sense?

You actually want all this to make sense??? None of it makes sense. The whole visa process is complicated, inefficient and expensive for no good reason that I can ascertain. If they want to do there background checks fine, do it and be done. This is just another example of the unbelievable bureaucratic BS that this country always seems to get caught up in. GEESH!!!!!

OK I have vented and I feel better. :)

*raises hand* Hi, 2 months so far on my K1. Extremely prepared for my public stoning, now. :D

In all seriousness, going through Vancouver seems to be faster than Montreal. I'd also comment that there is a slight chance of being denied entry if you were to visit your SO while your application was in process - but the time that I did it heading through YVR, it seemed to go just fine. Any chance of your SO visiting you instead, if you're worried about getting denied? Despite us being just a stone's throw away, plane tickets are still unreasonably expensive.

Oh my goodness you guys! Thanks for all your support! It really makes me feel hopeful to see estimates of 4 and 5 months. 3 would be even better! That's something I really needed to hear today, even if it's only a best guess. The thought of waiting 10 or 11 months just made me want to cry my eyes out!

Udella&Wiz-I so totally understand what you're feeling. Andrew and I pretty much had the exact same conversation last night. We both think it's a little bit ridiculous and discouraging to say the least!

Nini&Bee- I'm not so worried about being denied entry while it's processing. As a matter of fact, most of the time he visits me here because of the fact that with his travel agent card his standby tickets are 200 USD while mine are more like 475 USD.

I must admit, this whole process is quite daunting. I was sitting there last night thinking, what if they won't let me in?! I mean, my medical history is a little bit funky, what if that causes a problem? Not to mention the fact that it might look bad that I'm going to be very newly divorced by the time we file for the K1!

Oh wow Nini! You really have only been processing the visa for around 2 months! That's awesome! I can only hope for that kind of speedy efficiency when it comes time for my filing! Let's hope for a quick divorce as it's really the only thing that's stopping me from filing!

Hey, Andrew and I also met on the World of Warcraft. That is pretty darn funny! It's amazing how those games will unite a couple of people huh? I'm pretty grateful for that game that's for sure!

Hehe, gotta love WoW. If someone had told me "Hey, you're going to meet your future husband on an MMORPG!" a few years ago, I would've told them to go checked out at the mental hospital. Now, I'm completely proud of it, especially since I've met so many couples who have met through the game. :D (Alliance or Horde? Which server?)

I'm rather hesitant to give out the figure of 2-3 months, honestly - that's got to be dependent on season, how your case is presented, which adjudicator you get, which service centre, etc. I know in my particular situation, we managed to get everything before the current clog of NOA1s and NOA2s, and hit several dozen horseshoes on the way. I'd say on average it'll take 4-5 months from start to finish. Still, it's nice to see that there are some cases where not everyone gets dumped in the bureaucratic mudpile. :(

As for the newly divorced thing - I'm no expert, but they probably won't take that into serious consideration. I think they'd be more worried about whether your fiance had filed for a K1 before. As long as you can prove to them that your relationship is valid and honest, then you're going to get the go-ahead.

I totally know what you mean about a couple of years ago being told I'd ever even PLAY an mmorpg. That is SO not my style. It was a way to stay in touch with a long distance bf before I met Andrew. I'm super happy about it now! We play Alliance on Doomhammer!

Well, 4-5 months would even be better than 10 to 12. That's all that matters. Who knows, by the time my divorce comes through, which i think will be probably September at the earliest, (hoping that's not the case though) maybe there won't be such a backlog by then!

I can't wait for the end of this month though. 12 days until I get to go see my baby for my birthday! WOOHOO! :P

Udella and I (Wizanerne) play alliance on Kargath. I totally agree about the whole MMORPG thing. As a matter of fact it was just by chance that I started playing WoW because Horizons was just so painful to level. I even thought we were so unique in the fact that we met playing a game but come to find out it happens all the time. Of course a nale gnome and a female night elf make and odd couple but hey, when it's true love...

Arrrghhh...anyone else feel this way?

As far as the divorce goes, did you do the 1 year seperation before filing? If you add that and the time the divorce took, I don't see that as a major problem. They asked me about Mel's Divorce decree being fairly recent- I told him they had been seperated for a while before they filed and the Divorce dragged on for a while. It was the truth and there were no problems.

Medical problems- I think their main concern is you having any transmittable diseases- TB, HIV.

If you have had any major medical issues, I think they want letters from your Doctor saying you have been treated or that your medical conditions are under control.

Yeah Udella, a male gnome and a female night elf is pretty odd, but it works! For us, he's a male human, me a female night elf. He always complains because in game I'm taller than he is. In real life of course, that's far from the case, he's DEFINITELY taller than I am!

Stacey...well that's a relief to hear about the divorce. My ex and I have been separated almost a year and then divorced ASAP hopefully! Hopefully that will be enough for them. I just want to be with my soulmate, that's all.

When I voiced all my concerns to Andrew last night he told me just to chill out and relax, that I've got nothing to worry about, of course they'll let you in, he said! :P

One of the K1 girls I was with at the interview with got hers in 3 months!!! I was amazed. She lives in Vancouver, her fiancee in Boston.

I got my K3 in 4 months... would have been 3 months if Montreal didn't take so long to transfer my case. ;)

Combo of Vermont and Vancouver REALLY speeds stuff up!
