Whoo hoo, party only blocks away from our apartment!

I will be back in Saskatoon!!

Somehow there is always a reason with you, lol.

Well, there is always next year!

If i'm not in Canada during that timeframe each yr, I would be up in the inlaws in Newport RI. Great Fireworks show there. Of course we had a prime viewing at the Barton house, but was never there for it,lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yeah, we didn't make it to the roof last year either. But we actually can see the show from our balcony so not all was lost. This year I may be out of town on business for the 4th, but hopefully should be around for the 1st.

Thats an interesting website...I checked for Oregon and yes, I see a Canuck Party...

But,

July 1st is our first year (L) wedding anniversary (L) and we are headed back to Las Vegas

to spend this blessed event where it all began!

Next year I hope to be in Canada to spend our 2nd year anniversary and it will always

My brother is having one is South Jersey next Sunday, but I already posted the details in the turkey thread. My wife, if she's up to going, will be the guest of honor, being that she'll be the only Canuck in attendance. He joked about making a hat the she could wear that looks like the Conn Smythe trophy.

Kathryn, there doesn't appear to be celebrations at Zoo Atlanta like last year. I just checked the Zoo's website and either July's events aren't listed yet or they're not doing it. Are you and Joe doing the Sandy Springs party?

Hi Karen,

I actually contacted the Consulate and asked them directly. I got the answer back yesterday that they aren't doing anything this year for Canada Day and that the Sandy Springs event is the only one they know of in the area:-(. Joe and I have talked about it briefly - from their schedule it sounds like it is mainly going to be hockey related and bar type band music - something neither of us are very interested in. I don't think we will be attending even though it is a Canada Day party - it really isn't our style. Besides - they didn't mention anything about Tim Horton's coffee - just poutine (VBG). Right now, we are up in the air about our plans - if any. How about you?

(I know - intaked gasps of breath - a Canadian who isn't a hockey fan!!)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

We're not into the bar scene either, but Poutine! OOOOO! I dunno...Joel hasn't said. I'll ask and see...

BTW, we're planning to be down in Locust Grove the last week of June. I have an educational technology conference at the World Congress Centre June 24-27 and I'm planning on staying with my bf Kim...my matron of honour at our wedding. Joel is going to see how much time he can have off and hopefully come with me. Would LOVE to meet up with y'all...I'm sure my friend Kim would love to meet y'all too since y'all live so close. Let me know, eh?

Check with the Canadian Consulate in your state. They might have something along the lines of what you want. :)
