Hello guys !

I have an important question. Although have seen similar questions from other forum but still confused with the different answers. My question is, can I travel outside US in December with my 18months extension letter and my expired GC or do I need to get my passport stamped at my local USCIS.

Please, anyone with recent travel experience on this. I will appreciate any positive response.

You can travel outside the US with extension letter and your expired GC without issues. Why would you get your passport stamped if you have a valid extension letter?

Yes you can still travel with your expired GC and your extension letter. I did the same few months ago when I traveled back home and encounter no issues.

Safe travels :)

If you haven't already, you really need to review the great on-going pinned same-themed thread at a top of this forum page, Traveling on Extension Letter? , with over 600 replies, over 40 pages. I have personally commented on this on-going current thread numerous times, most recently on Oct 19, 2019,

The short answer to your question is YES. However, there are some countries that do not recognize the paper extension letter. The newest one mentioned in the pinned-thread is Mexico, there may be others. I mention this as you didn't state anything about your proposed itinerary, and as you may know....the devil is always in the details. 👍

Good luck on your immigration journey.
