Yeah well she has holes in her jeans that she bought that way so when I brought that up and being told her holes were fashion holes so it OK doesn't fly with me. I think my strategic placed holes in my jeans are fashion holes too and are just as valid.

I get you, man. I pass off the scuffs on my sneakers as a style selection.

When I met Al, he wore terrible sweaters that were full of moth holes and these disgusting "old man" overcoats that stank of cigarettes, and all his t-shirts were stained or had tears in them or were in some other way totally not presentable outside of his room. He said it was part of his "look" which I guess was "impoverished student"? His girlfriend at the time said she really didn't care, because she wasn't with him for his wardrobe. He eventually got the memo on being well dressed when he got his first job. Now the only really horrible thing he has left from then is this gross old "silky" polyester dressing gown in a paisley design which will never smell right no matter how many times I have washed it. I call it his Ted Cruz robe because it is like what Cruz's college dressing gown sounds like!

That's not an insensible statement you know. I met my husband when we were still very young, and my goodness his wardrobe was very much different than it is today... not any sort of wardrobe that I might have imagined my *ideal* to be. As an older-fashioned woman I put aside such childish notions and realize that we do not love a person for what they like to wear. We love a person for them. Gradually he changed it all out as he matured and his smart style isn't too different from his dad; when he wants advice on what looks best, I help him out. But I never pushed him on it, afterall, it's silly to try and change a man. Of course his momma wanted to know what was my secret. Now there are some things you should probably put a foot down on.... and that dressing gown might be one of them. 😉

Yeah my babe buys me stuff and tells me to wear them. She also alters them to fit well.

My non-fiance has a fantastic sense of style -- custom-made trousers in wild prints, made-to-measure Liberty of London shirts, beautiful shoes and boots, etc. He's like a peacock and I am here for it. I think he looks great in just a plain black tee and a pair of old jeans though -- he's the cutest thing I've ever seen. Sorry, getting sappy here.

I of course never progressed from my teenage goth phase and still dress primarily in black, though the quality and cut tends to be a lot better than back then. I let my boy be the showy one. I don't need it -- my white-hot wit and dazzling intelligence are quite enough. 😛

I think I wasn't clear: she was more interested in him out of his clothes than in the terrible ones he liked!

I think he looks great in pretty much everything except for that dressing gown. I haven't had too much influence on how he dresses-- he figured it out well before we got together. Clothes are one of his few real vices, that and buying magazines. I can live with these things.

Buddy of mine married an Ecuatoriana right before I got Mrs. T-B.-to-be here.

His had about an 18-hour set of flights on 4 airlines to get to his casa.

When she arrived, she barely greeted him, made a beeline for his closet, and began throwing all his clothes out.

The next day, she threw out his moose head and other things in his man-cave.

Had Mrs. T-B.-to-be done one speck of the same, her shapely hindquarters would've immediately been placed on the first available one-way conveyance back to Ecu.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Reconsidering the topic of this thread:  The real scandal behind AOC's haircut is the scandal beneath her haircut -- to wit, her Occasional-Cortex.

Mine took the clothes out so she could hang hers up. I was OK with that.

Sounds  bit like my wife.  All those "slightly" stained and mildly torn shirts and pants I used for painting jobs and changing oil on cars were thrown out.

What is with all these wives throwing stuff out? When he moved here I gave him my second closet and its still not enough room. 😉
