Idk in Ecuador but I’m Italian Venezuelan, and the legal parents are those who signed the birth certificate and registered the child. Doesn’t matter who’s the biological parent,if that person doesn’t appear in the birth certificate. No adoption is needed. For what I know for some Ecuadorian friends I have in Venezuela, it works the same way.  Also if you got Italian citizenship through your mom or uncle changing you uncles name to your biological parent name would require extra paperwork too.  I’d recommend you to contact a lawyer in Ecuador and talk about it an immigration lawyer can help you with paperwork but won’t know how those laws work in Ecuador. It’s a common practice in South America for other relatives to register children like theirs even if they’re not the biological parent.
