Hi All, me and my wife are Petitioner for F4 Category Visa for my brothers and sister-in-laws. Currently, we are 3 in our household and we are expecting 20 (bother/sister-in-law) family members will get a priority date in couple of year. Hence, we will have to have income shown for total of 23 individuals.

Please, advise me how much total household Income and Cash Balance/property do I have to show for to support all and not to have public charge denial. Thank you

I believe if I have calculated correctly, on the current basis you need $137162 income. (To be very sure of not being a public charge you need 250% of poverty guideline which is double this number so around $275k.) Will presumably be higher in a couple of years. Assets need to be 5x the difference between actual and required income to make up any shortfall. (So if you are $50k short you will need $250k assets, read the i864 instructions for which assets can be used and which can't.)

If any of those 20 people either don't work or won't work once they get to the US, especially if they are retired, it could be more problematic.

Do any of them have children?

When did you file for them?

Have you looked at the math for this??  Hopefully you have the income to support 23 people, although I have never heard of anyone successfully petitioning for such a large family all at one time.

By the time that date rolls around though, the visa category could be gone.

Yes, 9 (3 will be over 18 in three years) out of 20 will be children. I have applied in 2008 and f4 -category-Rest of the World.

We had someone on here not long ago that was part of a family that was also bringing around 20 people in on F4. I think they had various co-sponsors. If I am recalling correctly, I don't think they brought them all at the same time though.

FYI, Visa Category will (might?) go, but won't apply new rule for those already waiting at the NVC. And "Hopefully you have the income to support 23 people", some people have large family and some don't. It depend on person to person basis and also, once you become citizen and if you can afford, there is no rule indicate that you cannot apply at a same time. Let me know if I can clear more.

Thank you for your advise. Basically, we are talking about 125K income and 750K Asset, here if I am not mistaken?

One of the proposals was to can everyone in the queue with longer than a year to go. Anyway I don't think that will be your problem so much as the new public charge rule. Will help if the adults all have a good work history that they can use to work in the US too. 3 kids over 18, ouch, that's gonna be a pretty penny in college fees. For most states they won't get instate tuition anywhere for a year after they have moved over.

If I am remembering correctly, it has to be assets you can sell easily within a year without an adverse effect on the sponsor.  If most of the asset value is your primary residence, it won't count because obviously you need your home to live in, that would be seriously adverse.

I’d imagine your incomes would have to be quite a lot... my mind boggles at how you’ll afford to support all these people... health insurance alone will be crazy high... not to mention where will they all sleep? Best of luck with this, I’ve no idea how I’d cope in this situation

It was the Nigeria Lady whose husband had all the siblings.

They were using a cascade approach, starting with the most qualified, the ones most likely to get good employment first.

Right, but sounds like OP is trying to sponsor all 23.  I just don't see that happening.

I am sure I remember it as a Bangladeshi male...  maybe this happens more than we realize
