US Embassy in Haiti

Has anyone been able to reach the embassy in Haiti? It appears it may be closed due to all the political situation. This is the last notification I’ve received from the embassy dated the 4th- 

 

Security Alert:  U.S. Embassy Port-au-Prince, Haiti (October 4, 2019)

 

Location:  Tabarre, in close proximity of the U.S. Embassy

 

Events: Due to protest activity in close proximity to the embassy, all employees are instructed not to leave the mission compound until further notice. Employees currently at residential compounds should remain in place.

 

Actions to take:

·        Avoid the area;

·        Avoid demonstrations and any large gatherings of people;

·        Do not attempt to drive through roadblocks; and

·         If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area.

The way its looking like there is no time line when it will be optional. I’ve still have not gotten my embassy email/letter for my k1  yet. I’ve use the one you posted a couple of weeks ago in another post.

It took my husbands cousin (who is doing the k1) months for contact from both nvc and the embassy. He’s waiting on his child’s passport-who is an American citizen- but no one picks up the phone at the embassy. I feel sad for everyone going through the process now 😞

I called on Monday and Tuesday and had no problem getting through: ‭+509 2229 8000‬. I learned that our packet was emailed to my fiancé’s old email address so I requested for it to be resent to his current email address. We are still waiting for the letter...

So when my girl call she select option 2 for creole but no one answer should I call and select option 1 for English on that number.....

I just waited on the line and someone picked up almost immediately. I explained why I was calling and they transferred me to someone else...the two people I spoke with were nice and helpful. I only speak English, so yes I would select that option.  Make sure you have the beneficiary’s passport number handy because they will ask for that to look him/her up, along with the case ID #. Hope this helps.

My girl called yes and they told her that they are only processing emergency applications people who sick, need surgery and stuff like that. The didn’t even what to look up are case told her to call back on Friday if everything is calm. I’m pretty sure if I call and talk to the American speaking individual I’ll get better results, now they not answering the phone today!!

Definitely try to speak with an English speaker. Today is a holiday though so idk if there are there.

hopefully next week there will be a chance someone one answer the phone if this things are a little calm
