interview experience - k3 : successful

illidan " My wife had her interview yesterday at 7:30AM at Mumbai Embassy and she was approved within 5 minutes. It was a very short interview. Only question asked about me or our relationship were what was my name and my occupation and when was the last time we were together. There were more questions asked about my side of the family then about us. The person conducting the interview went through the interview so fast my wife didn't even have time to reply anything beside few words for each questions. The Interviewer didn't even look at any documents or pictures my wife took with her for evidence of relationship.

Also my wife spoke to few other people who came for the interview and they all had petitions filed at end of last year. She was the only one who had her petition filed in 2007. "

Hi everyone,

This is a nice thread for ppl who will have/had their interview in India.

Well I have a problem and I need suggestions. My fiancee visited me only once in March, 07 for two weeks. Then we had a small engagement ceremony at my place. But the main problem is that at that time her divorce was not finalized. It will be finalized on 20th June 07.

I have pics of engagement ceremony. My question is should we send those pics with the I-129F petition. Or should we send the pics of us together only.

We have to file the I-129F petition within next two weeks.

And If we send those pics with petition then should I show the engagement pics at the visa interview. My interview will happen at New Delhi Embassy.

I guess they will freak out when they come to know that her divorce was not finalized.Even we were aware of that we exchanged engagements rings. I guess they will reject me. =(

Should I hide the engagement info or not. Please help me out. I'm scared right now.

I need help......

Since you have other pictures of you together, why not just send those (dated). You could include pics from the engagement ceremony if you just give the date and they just show the two of you with friends/family - not exchanging rings or anything. We just included 4 pics of us together, with no one else, and we got approved fine! So tons of photos aren't really necessary.

I would say it is better to keep completely quiet about the engagement ceremony. Since the divorce wasn't final, I guess instead it was a commitment ceremony not engagement! ;)

In fact we never had any engagement ceremony at all, we just knew we would eventually get married. Commitment and intent to marry is what they are looking for. (The point being, you don't have to feel you need another "official" engagement ceremony to apply for the visa!)

Good luck!

Thanx Eileen for the suggestion. I was thinking about that too. We won't send the engagement pics. If we hide that info then it will be good for us. That way I can avoid unnecessary question at the interview.

For our K1 we submitted pictures of us together, pictures from various visit to India, and also pictures of our engagement, The only caution with the engagement pictures you have to be careful what pictures you send out, in a cultural functions part of the ceremony may be perceived as a wedding, as such those fond memories and pictures should be kept to yourselves as not to cause any undue and unnecessary rampage of questions and explanations.
