Any updates on this proclamation? My wife interviews on dec 9th just want to make sure I have something in place in case it goes into effect before her interview.

I hear it must be ACA compliant but most visitor and short term insurance is not. I looked into adding her to my employer based insurance but gosh too expensive at 400 per month for both of us. Anyone have any ideas?

400pm is cheap, unlikely to find a better deal, obviously depends on the extent of cover.

That amount can be cheaper depending on the employer or the state, but you are unlikely to find any better deal on the marketplace. It's a typical amount. No problem with looking.. but you'll eventually need to pick something you know?

I know the temporarily order heading was supposed to be last Friday. I have a scoured Google using the Judges Name but found no news stories recently with migration. The date must have moved.

U.S. District Judge Michael H. Simon said he’ll issue a written ruling by the deadline"

And an update today

"A federal judge in Oregon has blocked the Trump administration from denying immigrants visas unless they can prove they will have health insurance.

Judge Michael Simon ruled that "the President's Proclamation requiring legal immigrants to show proof of health insurance before being issued a visa by the State Department is inconsistent with the INA," referring to the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Simon had previously temporarily barred the administration from implementing the policy, and has now granted a nationwide preliminary injunction pending resolution of the case."

It seems it's a nationwide injunction until the case is battled out in the courts and a formal court ruling is made. So I think at least several more months of official court proceedings...

You can still purchase insurance on your own.  My guess is that fiancés will more get married as soon as possible.

Where can one purchase the insurance?

Absolutely, I just don't know how the 30 day timeline is supposed to work with K-1's.

As the proclamation was drafted, it only specified immigration visas. Earlier in this thread it was pointed out that the K-1 visa is not an immigration visa , even though the intent is to immigrate. It's unclear if this gap will close later.

  • 2 weeks later...

I received my interview date on 12 December and the interview is in January! I wanted to know since the email has this part about health insurance, do I need to make arrangements for health insurance or not? And I did check online and the proclamation was halted and the injunction has been issued by the court. Is it still worth it to purchase health insurance before an interview or can I just attend the interview without it! Though many of the people on forums were not questioned about it!IMG_2023.PNG.2fd1c1668fe2e05c8d03a8d6609f10af.PNG

I just had my immigrant visa appointment on December 9th. The health insurance was not mentioned or asked during our interview.
