Continuation of the above topic. My parents and us live in the same area. We live in an apartment so I was scared that we will lose our mail.

Oh, and as for being sure not to lose your mail, just be sure you both complete your official Change of Address with USPS. They’ll forward your mail to your new address.

Hello, I have a quick question my wife and I moved from my parents house to a new apartment last month  but I failed to inform this to USCIS. I changed my address on my drives license. Our parents still lives in the same address so we always gets our mail. Not sure what to do at this point. We have AOS/EAD and TD pending. Please help and thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

Almost all non-US citizens are supposed to notify USCIS of a change of address (COA) within ten (10) days. That being said, it is equally important to do a proper COA with USPS as soon as you are able. The link below specifically mentions that proper COAs should be completed with USCIS and USPS, and that makes sense. If you give the COA to the agency that is mailing out your important documents/cards/notices, etc., they will likely get the address changed. However, until USCIS changes their mail processing format, many of their postings have the statement(s) on the outside of the envelope, "If undeliverable, do not forward," "Do not forward," "Deliver to addressee only," etc. So, if the USPS gets an envelope so marked, and there has not been a proper COA done by the addressee, it will likely be returned as "Undeliverable" to the sender (USCIS). This can result in a big mess, the end result being, you do not get your important documents/cards/notices, etc. :ranting::no:  Of course that is certainly a situation to avoid. Help these bureaucracies do their intended tasks.

We need a little housekeeping from you if you will. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks and good luck on your immigration journey, and Happy Holidays!! 🎄

Aww. 😔 Not too sure about the timeframe for receiving the letter, but hoping the RFE is an easy fix and the rest of your green card journey is smooth sailing. 🙏🏻👍🏻

You will get an update approximately a month after biometrics. You either get a RFIE or “ready to schedule interview”

Where did you find that info?

You can see that K-1 AOS applicants are not on the list of categories eligible for a waived interview.

https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-7-part-a-chapter-5

This policy change was put into effect by USCIS Policy Alert (PA)-2018-04 on May 15th 2018.

Do you know of something different?

We got an update today for a RFE, does anyone know how long does it take to get the letter on the mail?

Took us exactly 5 days to receive it in the mail.

I seem to have noticed a pattern.  If someone gets the status "case was apdsted to show fingerprints were taken" they seem to get a RFE

You and i had the same status update after it said "fingerprint review was complete".

P.S. my RFE was for a stupid birth cerificate.  Apparently they did not like the ones I sent. 😂

It does say " the following list includes, but not limited to, catergories of cases where a officer may decide to waive an interview."

Sounds like to me it is still possible.  Probably very very rare.

Thank you so much for the info! Was it 5 business days or 5 days in total? I hope it is something stupid too!

I wonder if that’s true... That’s the status my I-765 is at right now. We’ll see if I end up getting an RFE for it.

Edit: After a quick Google search, I found that lots of people had their case status change from “Fingerprint review was complete” to “Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken” this month, without the date of the update changing. Some people have speculated that USCIS is just changing the language they use in this update, but I have no idea. Someone else more knowledgeable have any info?
