Ok thanks so much! I'll try to stop obsessively checking my status online for awhile haha 👍

I have heard that at NBC it is kind of NVC (abroad); they look at all your documents and gets your file shipped to your CIS office. Once all your docs are good and nothing it is missing; your status will change to “ready for interview”. Once the package gets to your field office, then that it is when your interview gets scheduled. How soon you will get an interview slot depends on the field office, most AOS cases are taking less than a year.

I am not sure about all this process, but this is how I understand it.

Being husband and wife usually means two people are living together as married couple. In the same place. Not in different countries. I wouldn't want to be separated from my husband by law, because that is neither good or fair. And psychologically very hard. Rather have him as just fiance while waiting for visa, it's less humiliating to wait. But that's my opinion.

Yes, but then once you are here. You start seeing frustrations coming afloat, like inability to work, inability to drive and living in the US is expensive. For some couples finances  are a concern, for others no.

Hi fellow October filers. I was checking (as I'm sure most of us are doing almost every day) my uscis status online and I found out that I received a Request for Initial Evidence. We're obviously pretty bummed as we really made sure to include all possible evidences, but do you guys have any idea how this will slow down the process of receiving the EAD combo card / Interview? I still don't know the reason of the RFIE. Thank for your help

That’s what happened to me. I am going to respond to my RFE next week.
This RFE will make the EAD process stop  till once they receive and review the RFE respond.

Which only proves that current immigration system at some points often lacks humanity and morals. K1 or Spousal visa - there is a very small choice in rotten apples.

Immigration fraud and huge immigration influx are the main reasons for which cases have slowed down. The more you read here in VJ; the more you learn about what human beings are capable of doing for a US visa.

Well, I am not responsible for others and do not share the idea of America as of heaven on earth. That is a good country of cours, but every country has good and bad things. Since my soulmate happened to be an American, that's the only reason of why I needed American visa. He's older than me and has less wish to relocate or move.

I understand your frustration but rather than calling the process inhumane I would sooner say its outdated.

As an IT professional of over 30 years and someone who has worked on hundreds of integrations between private and public entities, I can say it is appalling how poorly our various government agencies integrate with each other (some don't seem to integrate at all).  It's living in a 'bearskins and stone knives' existence in the 21st century.

Furthermore, I have observed some possible security concerns when it comes to PII (personally identifiable information).  It would require more analysis to validate but it does makes me blanch.

There surely are better ways of adjudicating the process, protecting against fraud, etc. without burdening people as does happen in the current state of affairs.  The bureaucratic red tape is just crazy.  A big part of the problem is government agencies tend to operate in this 'we've always done it this way' philosophy and there are certain segments of our population that aid and abet this mentality by rationalizing it (in some cases unwittingly).

Hang in there.  You'll get through it.

I am a U.S. citizen.  I was born here.  I was raised here.  I was educated here.  I've had a great career here.

With all this being said I must say I share some of your views.

I feel in some parts of the world there still exists this 'streets paved with gold' view of America.  America is a great country.  I am proud of my country.  However, as I have traveled abroad more (rather extensively in Europe) I have come to the realization there are many great countries out there.  I have also come to the realization there are things we don't do very well in America that are done much better in other places.  I won't go into all the details but suffice it to say I know where you are coming from.

I was born in Russia and think Russia is great country also. But not perfect. No country in the world is perfect. America isn't perfect either. It just happens in life - people move, leave homeland, relocate. It's normal in modern world, and all governments should seek ways to make immigration more convenient, easy and not stressing for people.

Would be very nice if they would say about reasons of RFE right when person checks their status and sees that he got the RFE. That way he could have more time to prepare an answer:)

I waited the letter for about 5 days to arrive. That’s when I knew haha.
They want my birth certificate which I already sent but after researching looks like I have to send :

Copy of original birth certificate

original translation version of birth certificate

hope yours is an easy fix 😊

It is taking the same amount of time as the fiancé visa including AOS.

It's not really possible to compare them in any meaningful way.

AOS processing times are extremely field office dependent, and the time from both visa issued to POE and POE to filing for AOS varies tremendously from couple to couple. You could file for AOS within days of getting a K-1 (if you're able to come to the US and get married right away), or over 9 months later (use the whole six months of the K-1 validity, then wait the whole 90 days to get married).

Even comparing time from filing to visa issued isn't super meaningful, because some couples could easily marry the next day upon deciding to do a CR-1 instead of a K-1, while others couldn't reasonably do so for months, and no one ever adds "time to actually get married" into K-1 vs CR-1 comparisons.
