hello everyone!!!, i have a question so as we all know , when we submit AOS, and it get accepted by the NBC, once they get your case they send you three text messages with 3 case numbers... we are all clear on that!!! after that we get biometric appoinment letter...DONE!!! then your case gets updated to :

As of November 20, 2019, we completed our review of your fingerprints and are working on your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, Receipt Number MSCxxxxxxxx at our National Benefits Center location. We will let you know if we make a decision or need anything from you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

but i noticed something in my case.... only the I765 and the I485 got updated as of 11/21/2019, biometrics were on 11/20/2019.... the I-131 did not get updated... it still has October`s date

On October 9, 2019, we received your Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, Receipt Number MSC2xxxxx3, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by November 8, 2019, contact the USCIS Contact Center at www.uscis.gov/contactcenter. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Your biometrics covers all three applications. Your EAD/AP is issued in a matter of a combo card, so your EAD card is primarily updated because when that gets approved , your AP also gets approved and updated.

It's my understanding the biometrics appointment has no applicability to the I-131.  I could be wrong but that's my understanding.  From what I heard, the biometrics are more for the I-485 and I-765.

For my I-485 and I-765 cases online, I see something in there for biometrics.  The I-131 status hasn't changed since it was first created and that was well before our biometrics appointment.

We did go to SSA but they told us to wait. They said if they put it in then it wouldn't go through. But seemed to contradict what we read here. We trusted the guy since he seemed to know what he was doing but now regret that we didn't try at first.

So is there nothing to do until we get EAD? Will things automatically happen at that point or do we need to re-file?

Did you end up trying to file? By rejecting your request, did they just not submit anything or did you get some letter from SSA saying it was rejected?

My husband applied for SSN prior to our marriage. He never got SSN. We waited for a little over 2 months. The last time we went to SS office the clerk that talked to us explained that when he arrived in USA he was on  K1 visa status, after marriage and applying for AOS he is no longer on K1 visa status. As a K1 holder one is eligible for SSN, but as an AOS pending one is not eligible until the work authorization isn't approved. He also mentioned that in order for them to release a SSN to someone the DHS has to "clear" that person, and if they dont then we stuck waiting. Anyway last week we received a letter where SS office clearly said that my husband is not eligible at the moment for SSN and his visa expires soon (k1 visa), which is in contradiction with what the clerk told us. We will wait for EAD to be approved and will try again. I know people that came on K1 and got SSN in a few weeks but I guess that is not a standart.

The biometrics technically covers all three applications, but EAD and AP are issued in a single card. In that way, the EAD carries more weight in a way as when that gets approved both get approved

You are right. Form 131 doesnt require biometrics. In most cases the status on 131 form doesnt change until the card is produced, if at all.

I think the SSA letter you mention is similar (if not identical) to the one we received recently.  I think it stated it wasn't a denial per se but that we need to go through the DHS before anything can happen at the SSA.

So... we wait for EAD and then take the next steps.  I feel pretty darn sure we will be at the SSA office again within the next couple of months to wrap this up.  I doubt this wraps itself up in a neat little bow for us.

We had biometrics yesterday and the case online was reflected to say fingerprint review was completed for I-485. The other 2 case numbers say the case was received.

Now just a waiting game until we here for scheduling the interview?

Most likely we'll get something for EAD in the meantime?

What did the invitation letter for biometrics said ? In most cases they send for both I-485 and I-765 at the same time. However in some cases they send separate biometric letters in different days for I485 and I 765.

Hahaha you are right. It is frustrating to see how every Gov. agency is related between each other and yet they have no access to the same data of base. I even called DHS and they said SSA should not wait for DHS and they should be able to release a SSN only with the visa in passport and I94. Than I gave up and told myself I am going to just patiently wait. The only reason we wanted social number so bad is because of driver license. In our state we need to provide a bunch of papers before they will give you a driver license and SSN is one of them.

Interesting. I guess we're stuck waiting for a couple months until EAD. This also holds up the driver's license since social security card is one of the requirements.

The letter was both for I-485 and I-765.
