Ahh that's good info thank you both. I was under the impression it was like the Biometrics where it comes shortly after the change.

Unfortunately this is where the waiting game starts. You can search on VJ people with the same local office as yours and see their time lines. This will give you an ideea about how long you might need to wait. Your case may be fast you never know.

Question for anyone that may have had a similar experience, my wife has gotten a new job since we initially filed our AOS  and now we have gotten an RFIE related to I864, (the old income information was over the threshold) it doesn't specifically ask for another job letter or pay stubs only tax statements and things of that nature. Im wondering if its fine to respond with the tax documentation but not send pay stubs etc considering she's no longer at the old job and has only been at the new location for 2 weeks at this point.

For one, you're not waiting an extraordinary amount of time yet; you filed less than two months ago. Anyone that has anything more than biometrics done already is at an extraordinarily fast field office.

Processing times for AOS do not go by state. They go by field office (though in some states all cases are handled by the same field office, California in has quite a few).

Fresno and Imperial are quite fast. San Diego (we filed in early April, Anastasia's interview was at the end of September) and San Bernardino aren't bad.

But some of the SF and LA area offices are among the slower offices in the country.

Unfortunately I’m in the LA area lol

I just wanted to see how others’ status are like. Since were all on this waiting phase just checking if anyone else from Cali got lucky LOL

We got married in October, filed our AOS paperwork in October, and applied for an SSN. Everything went smooth except for the SSN. It's been stuck with DHS since then. We try calling our local office each week and they tell us the same thing that it's stuck with DHS. Last week they suggested to contact our US representative to help out which we did. Is there anything else we can do, or is it just a waiting game now?

We check the SAVE database often and all we see is case returned to agency with a most recent date of November 6.

You did what we did.  We are stuck until EAD or GC before getting a SS card/number.  The same is likely the case for you.

What both of us should have done was go to SSA prior to getting married.  As wacko as it sounds, the SS card can be achieved quicker that way.  If we knew then what we know now...

I tried getting my SSN before we got married... it didn't work for me 😔 they wouldn't accept it and rejected my request for it.

So now waiting for EAD or GC.

On October 9, 2019, we received your Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, Receipt Number MSC2xxxxx3, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by November 8, 2019, contact the USCIS Contact Center at www.uscis.gov/contactcenter. We did go to SSA but they told us to wait. They said if they put it in then it wouldn't go through. But seemed to contradict what we read here. We trusted the guy since he seemed to know what he was doing but now regret that we didn't try at first.

So is there nothing to do until we get EAD? Will things automatically happen at that point or do we need to re-file?

Did you end up trying to file? By rejecting your request, did they just not submit anything or did you get some letter from SSA saying it was rejected?

We got a letter from SSA saying I was not accepted to receive a SSN at the time.

Interesting. It's been complete silence from SSA if it wasn't for us bugging our office every week in case there have been any changes.

We had biometrics yesterday and the case online was reflected to say fingerprint review was completed for I-485. The other 2 case numbers say the case was received.

Now just a waiting game until we here for scheduling the interview?

Most likely we'll get something for EAD in the meantime?

That stinks.  I have heard conflicting reports.  I kind of get the feeling it may depend on the agent or SSA office.  Some will do it, some won't.  Nothing like a game of roulette during a pretty crazy time in your life.

I think we're SOL until EAD or GC.  There is a box you can check for the EAD to get a SS card as part of the process.  It seems like it will happen automatically but it's TBD if that is how things play out.  I may be wrong but my gut tells me we will need to make at least one trip to our local SSA office to finalize things.

Unfortunately we didn't check that box. Figured it would cause confusion if we had one in the works.
