Hi all,

We had an interview scheduled for April 8th, which was then cancelled due to the virus. We have just received a request for initial evidence for your Form I-485 update today. How could it have been scheduled for an interview before but now they need more evidence? As anyone else encountered this?

Thanks,

Kev

They might waive your interview. If the RFE is asking for proof of relationship, joint stuff, then it's a interview waiver.

I agree with Ayrton. There have been other VJ members who received RFIE leading to a waived interview. I would consider it to be good news. Keep us posted.

I wondered what the processing times were in San Antonio, TX. I now wish I never checked...

Hi all, we received our RFE today asking us to submit the I-693 Medical Examination and Vaccination Record form which a USCIS civil surgeon needs to sign and seal, along with submitting evidence that we have a valid marriage. I understand the evidence for marriage part but I don't understand why they now are requiring the Medical form now even though we had an interview scheduled prior to the shutdown.  Does anyone know what is exactly involved with the I693 of if its a big deal? We submitted the DS-3025 she received from Germany so I am not sure why this is needed.

Thanks in advance!

They need the medical form (I-693) to certify that you've had all of the required vaccinations in order to immigrate.

This is amazing news since it probably means they're going to try and approve your case without interview!

I guess I just don't understand how this wasn't required when we had our interview scheduled for April 8th but now they want it. How is the process and cost of getting the 693 completed?

Thanks!

To my understanding, it's the responsibility of the immigrant to verify if they need to provide a completed I-693 which I think is a really bad way of handling things.

I had mine completed a week prior to my original interview before it got postponed. It cost me about $45 to get a Civil Surgeon to certify my vaccination record based on USCIS requirements.

You can find a Civil Surgeon near you using https://my.uscis.gov/findadoctor.

Didn't you submit vaccination records with the original package?

The cost of I693 depends on the doctor and clinic you choose. I paid about $40 here in Arizona for just filling out the form and signing it, but I know that not all doctors agree to do that without medical examination. You can find a thread here in VJ called something like "doctors that don't rip you off" where people shared contacts of doctors they went to
