I may be mistaken, but I got the impression that the October 1 changes  Loren references were separate from the translation issue- in other words, they are questions that everyone will now get.

As I understood it, you are right. They said the questions were going to be more detailed and " technical". How that plays into the mix I have no idea as I didn't get to hear any AOS interview questions, but I am sure I will the next time around, and with 4 people there listening to the questions twice at least due to translation I am sure I will have a accurate list of questions asked. But yes, the translation seemed to be one issue, that led to them being concerned that she may have trouble with the new form of questions. Maybe it is better in the long run, but I had my wife now before she even came here complete 16 weeks of English for Thais at the Patong Language school. This was a 8 level course and pretty intense, and really not too expensive and I knew it was important she learn the language fluently. As @JoelThai had referenced above when we went to the SS office less than 24 hours after arriving in the US she breezed thru the questions there with no issues, and then when she was here I had her take some ESL courses offered for Free at a local community center, so she isn't exactly an amateur with the English language. Had no issues at the DMV when getting the license, and going back to renew it, so she has interfaced with quite a few government agencies with minimal problems. She has had to make statements to the police when she was witness to a robbery at a convenience store, and couldn't write a statement, but was able to give information to the detectives to help. It is what it is, but I'm going back loaded for bear, and ready for anything. Like in the movie Zombieland " Oh, this Twinkie thing, it ain't over yet"😁

I've read multiple reports on this and other sites of AoS interviews occurring after October 1st, which don't seem to mention anything particularly different. This review of the Charlotte office, for example

https://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=27214

So I wonder if Loren's experience indicates a change specific to beneficiaries who need translator assistance. Perhaps they've become stricter about verifying English comprehension before proceeding with the interview.

Best of luck!

Our interviewer seemed to emphasize questions about whether my wife intended to use means tested benefits such as welfare and food stamps. I told the interviewer that my wife had no idea what food stamps were)) Other than that they concentrated on the questions that were already on the form. Like if my wife was a pirate or a communist or whatever)))

Finally done...
