All my prior experience with moving has been pretty short distances. In the next month or so, I will be moving across country to Arizona.

This has definitely given me a new appreciation for those that have done it before. I didn't realize all the BS you have to put up with. Just getting a checking account set up that I will be able to use there has been a hassle. I think it is all the little things.

Today on my way home from work, an elderly lady decided to swerve in to my lane and take out the front fender and grill on my truck. Was planning on selling the truck to someone to help with paying for the move. Not sure that is going to happen now. I am buying a car down there so trying to get that all worked out by e-mail and phone hasn't been fun.

The apartment complex I was planning on moving to is now full so I don't know if I will be getting in there when I want to. I couldn't take the place I wanted until I got the go ahead from the company that my physical etc cleared and they just got back to me to let me know they would pay for my first months rent. So now I am on a waiting list.

They are giving me approx. $4000 for moving/relocation expenses. I wish I could just use as is. I'd just fly there, get a few things for my apartment (if it opens up soon) and leave most of my stuff here...just so I could get settled in.

What are they doing? Paying your moving bills? The relo I got previously for moving for a job was a flat amount paid to me to use whichever way I see fit. They offered servies on top of that - relocation specialists - but I did it on my own and came out way ahead on the move.

I have to find out for sure tomorrow. It would be nice. I would just fly down and use the rest to pay for basics for my apartment.

Found out that the relocation expense is used for how I see fit. That's definitely nice. I'll be able to fly down as soon as I get my apartment and just use the remaining for rent or things I will need for the place.
