Do we need to file one I-485 for both my husband (k-3) and step-son (k-4) with two checks for payment or two different forms and two different checks? Also is it one I-864 or two? We are filing my step-son's I-130 along with the AoS info - is there anything special I need to do?

You need to fill out a seperate application for each for each of them and pay for each application with a seperate check. You can(and probably should) mail them all together in one package. Make sure you check the fees and send the right amount. For children under a certain again the fee is $225.00 and there is no biometric fee. For your husband you can send in a check for $325.00 plus $70 biometric fee for a total of $395.00 (although I sent mine in seperate checks with no problems).

I sent in a seperate Affidavit of support with each application (because I wasn't sure if one would be sufficient), you can just photocopy a completed one (prior to signing it), sign both and include one with each application.

I don't think you need to file anythng special with the step son's I-130. I just sent in the stuff asked for on the list and I think my custody order too, even though that was not a requirement.
