Hello everybody,

early this month I received the EAD card and then I got the SSN, went to DMV to get a driving license (Eureka, CA) and after filing all the forms they scanned my EAD and they said the scanner can't read it 'cause probably my card number is not on the DHS system yet, so I couldn't go further in the process.

They told me to wait and go to DMV every week to try if my card is "readable" or not.

Did this happen to any of you? Have you ever heard about something like this?

Go to a different DMV. You may have to go to several. Apparently many of the machines in CA are having issues (something about glossy documents not reading). They seem to have some sort of 'manual verification' process but people have reported waiting months and months for that. So I would suggest trying multiple DMVs- hopefully you can find one that has a scanner that works with your card.
