There are high heels, which are 4.5~5” in height (no platforms please, gross).  Then there are just shoes.

I never said I wore platforms! (Or at least not since 2003, when I was 18 and didn't know any better.) We can disagree on as to what makes a heel a heel (and we already have) though. :P

My electrician used to tell me he never shut off the power before working on electrical repairs because he was used to it. Then one day  ZZZZZAP.

The electrician paused in the middle of a job, then said to his assistant, "Bob, grab that black wire."  Bob took it.  "Feel anything?" asked the electrician.  "No," said Bob.  "Good!" said the electrician.  "I was wondering which was which.  Now, for God's sake, don't touch that white wire -- it'll kill you!"

Yes, it does! I just mentioned that I'm a feminist because I think it's important to dispel the myth that feminists aren't supportive of women taking on "traditionally" feminine roles. That's all, and guess that's the iota that I think that matters. But we are (I believe) on the same page. :)

Well, Alex would disagree with you on that one, because he prefers me barefoot (don't let a woman have shoes, or she'll run away). :P No, kidding. He's just happy to have me cook for him, but he is trying these days.

Your fiancee is Alex. Alex runs infowars. You despise infowars. Hmmmm

I swear my fiancé's last name isn't Jones! He's also a lot hotter (in my opinion) than Alex Jones and weighs at least 80 pounds less (to my eye at least!)..... but I'll ask for a birth certificate :P After all, if he's secretly American, we won't need to AOS

What is with the cooking in heels stuff though? Any time I can get heels off my feet is a wonderful thing. I'm a barefoot cook all the way, same way all the other generations of ladies in this family did it. The other week I was making a wild rice dish, tripped over the dog and the rice went flying through the kitchen, almost faceplanted myself. If I'd been wearing heels I'd surely have went down.

If I could figure out how not to drop things on my feet, I'd be barefoot in the kitchen instead of in Chucks. My cooking is good, my coordination... less so.

I have a feeling he wouldn't like my yoga pants, sports bra and Chucks cooking outfit then!!! Actually, I have to throw on a t-shirt over the sports bra when I'm making anything more complicated than tea because... spatter. (I would like to point out I do have a spatter guard I bought from Williams-Sonoma years ago but I think spatter and I have some magnetic attraction to each other.) And when I wear a t-shirt, I make sure it's this one:

:P I was going to buy Al one too but he said he thought it would be a great way to pick up women for his "harem of American harlots." 😠

I think I recall reading something like that once, and thought it was likely made up.

It just sounds uncomfortable. Not only the heels, but the lingerie, too (spatter hazards). I mean, I live in a studio, so technically when I'm in my underwear I'm really near the kitchen, so does that count? I'd post a pic to get a further opinion but (1) not family friendly and (2) privacy concerns.

No sadly, the poodle with the discerning nose wouldn't care if the most attractive piece of food fell directly in front of his face. He merely just looked at the mess, looked up at me with a glint in his eye, as if to say ''momma, you are very silly to fall on me. you know I am Velcro to you 24-7, why didn't YOU notice ME?"

He went on a food strike for three weeks because of illness. Poor thing. These days to get him back into the swing, he requires fresh chicken and beef cubes and roasted sweet potato delicately sautéed in a pan with au-jus of dog-safe broth boiled down to a sort of BBQ sauce topper. Seriously though. You could drop an entire roasted turkey in front of him and he wouldn't so much as care.
