My fiance had his medical last week and there was NO prodding in any, er, delicate areas. There was a visual scan, but that's about it! It's not a very invasive appointment.

Also - psho - you know there's no need for vaccination records AT the medical in London, right? From what I understand, you need your vaccination records for AOS, but not before (still a good idea to get them while in England, of course).

linzzee - i feel your frustration. we want our interview date too! when is your wedding booked? as recommended above, call the State Department to see if there's news of your case's progress. they are very helpful on that line and have access to the embassy computer records. hang in there! i know it sucks!

and don't worry about booking before you get the visa - we all know the risks. at a certain point, you have to take a chance. i hope it works out for you! (we're getting thiiiiis close to starting to book things for the fall. it's a scary thing, i know!)

Really? Excellent news! I'll tell the lad tomorrow morning! He's been having difficulty getting through to Kensington to change the date anyway, so if he doesn't have to, that would be wonderful.

He doesn't HAVE to have the vaccinations, but if he can't prove what he's had, they'll probably make him have them at the medical (which is costly).

Even though you don't *technically* need vaccinations to get a K1, I've never seen London or the medical docs not ask for proof or give them at the medical.

I agree, they still need to check what you have had before you are approved. I think there are some that are madatory before you travel and some that need to be given prior to the AOS. I needed MMR and the nurse said ' because you are a K1, this is one of the vaccinations that you do not need before you travel', this would suggest that your visa type also has a say in whether the record is presented.

Safest bet, just present the record or be prepared to go home with two sore arms and minus quite a bit more cash than the £200 medical fee.

I had an MMR injection before my medical - again best if you can have the vaccinations done here in the UK by your own GP as it is cheaper alot cheaper than at the medical and in the states. There was a thread some time back that said some ppl had to have two injections within a period of time for the MMR and some only had one injection - I know I only had one injection. I didnt know if i had the MMR as a child as I was 3 years old when we moved to england from Uganda so best to have it taken now if possible:) I believe this medical we have done now is valid for a year so hopefully we wil be moving to the states and having our AOS before that year expires - from what I understand is that for the AOS they will be happy with this medical results if within the year if not then another medical is required in the states. Hope this makes sence lol I have a bad cold and I guess I am not thinking straight plus with all my stress from the medical and interview last week i feel very run down:(

But to update those that have told me not to worry:) I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow morning so I should be able to get him to write a new letter hopefully explaining that the agrophobia is not as bad as it looked on the first letter!

As to the psychiatric evaluation - I had a call from Nuffield hospital here in Leicester and well they charge anything between £200 - £400 - as I have a little history the secretary told me that the psychiatrist will need to ask for records etc from the ppl I have seen previously etc which will take time etc and will be more expensive so it looks like for me a private psychiatric evaluation will be costing £400 which is money I do not have:(

On the good side - I did see a NHS psychiatrist some time back (i get confused with all the ppl I have seen so I explained at the medical that I think I saw a psychiatrist some time back but im not sure) Anyways for some reason I didnt make the last appointment, I rang the out patients today and the lady gave me an appointment on 3 july - so I guess now I will have to wait till then to see if that psychiatrist will be able to do me an evaluation. The lady on the phone told me to talk to my GP as an evaluation was done when I first went to see this person so my GP should have that and suggested that I send that to the medical doctor - but I explained that he wanted an updated evaluation as I stand now! so we shall see what happens on 3 july. What really annoys me now is that, it is highly unlikely that I will be issued a visa before august:( but I also read somewhere that the London American Embassy are closing for August so who knows when I will gett he visa and when I will sell the house etc etc. I am so stressed! I just want cuddles from my baby and I cant even get that:( bless him he has been so good and trying very hard to keep me from worrying but I still worry:(

On another note I am going to try and contact my cognitive therapist who has been helping me get over my fear of getting out and about and finding coping mechanisms for me to be able to live normally - which I think I do anyways lol - its all mainly anxiety - anyways he is on vacation till next week so I will be on the phone to him next week and I will try to get a report from him also - although this was not requested I feel I need to produce it:)

Ok thats enough for now since I must have bored everyone LOL - Good luck all that are still waiting

Hear hear! It is utter hogwash. Just think about it -- what would all those USC's who come to visit London do if they lost their passports? What about those poor souls who need business visas to visit New York in August (I am remembering the sour perfume of a New York August right now...)? American babies born in August? Ex-pats who died? And most importantly, what about all of us?

Nope, it's open. :P

Guilty as charged your honour. I was told by the docotor doing the medical that the embassy was closed so thought it a good idea to pass on info received in good faith, however I quickly found out from the horses mouth ie the Visa Section that it was definitely OPEN in August. So apologies if I mislead anyone however with a little luck no damage was done. No feel somewhat sheepish over the whole post.

Don't feel bad -- you sorted it all out so quickly. Are you serious -- the doctor at Knightsbridge told you it was closed? I can only hope he's not passing that on to others...

My wedding date is September 15th so I'm just being over-cautious but I think I put the wrong date on my timeline for sending P3, I sent it a week earlier on 14/05/07. I've not booked a flight or anything it's just that things need organising and this damn interview date is driving me crazy.

linzzee - I know how you feel, we're looking at an october date and it's driving me nuts to be thiiiiiiis close to feeling ever so slightly more confident about booking things and - more importantly - planking down deposit money.

i confirmed with the state dept. that they have (from what we can tell from their notations) received his medical information from the doctors, but still not indication that packet 3 has been entered into the system on their end. Effing-A! just a date is all we need!

Well, here's something I read last night:

http://www.goldsteinvisa.com/london-visa.html

Normally, preference visa applicants who have had their Packet 3 (DS-2001, formerly OF-169, and DS 230 Part I) received by the Consular Post and entered into the Immigrant Visa Automated Control System (IVACS) by the 15th day of a particular month are put on the London visa number request list for the second succeeding month. Thus, an applicant whose Packet 3 forms were received in London and the information entered into IVACS by June 15th would normally be scheduled for an interview during the month of August.

Within a calendar month of scheduled appointments, those IV applicants physically residing in the United Kingdom generally will be scheduled during the first half of the month, while those applicants in the United States (or elsewhere) generally are scheduled for the second half of the month in order to facilitate travel back to the United States. Individual adjustments of scheduled appointments within the same month can usually be granted for good cause.

So (according to this), since we submitted our Packet 3 after June 15, we'd get an appointment scheduled for... SEPTEMBER?? :crying:

I'm hoping this is a very conservative timeline. It's been going much quicker the past few months, eh?
