Medical done

OK - so this may be a silly question, but here goes anyway. Does scheduling your medical early seem to have any effect on when your interview is scheduled? I know there are some people that wait until close to interview date to do the medical and others (like us) that schedule the medical as soon as they get the LND file #. Just curious if you guys that have been around a while have noticed any real difference there. I did a search, but there wasn't really anything I could find on this other than people asking about the delays involved with having the medical only a day or so before the interview.

When I had my medical back in early May, the doctor I saw seemed to believe that having my medical early would speed things up. She said I would probably hear about an interview in about two weeks (obviously I didn't as I hadn't sent back my checklist). In my case, it doesn't seem to have speeded things up. But there ya go.

Ditto -- except the advice was given to us by the DOS (or was it the Extortion Line?). We had been waiting for about 2 weeks for P4 when Bruce had his medical. I started freaking out about P4 (more out of frustration than any real worry) and called to find out the status of the application. They said the medical had just been entered on the system, and that often times that seemed to spur the Embassy into action on your file.

But then again, it does seem to be pretty random when it comes to doling out interviews, so I wouldn't rely on early medical = earlier P4.

Thanks for replies, guys. We already have the medical scheduled, am hoping to get an interview date in July - otherwise we don't make the planned wedding date. If we'd ONLY known about VJ sooner! Ah well, nothing to do but hope and pray for the best and wait.

We scheduled our medical before our packet even arrived. Honestly I saw no difference, it is just one thing you have out of the way.

The medical doesn't seem to make a difference. Tim had his pretty quickly and the info is back in the system and no news yet on the interview. I don't think it can hurt to get it out of the way though. I'm sure nothing bad will come up, but in case there's some issue, probably doesn't hurt to have more time to take care of any paperwork or follow-up tests before the interview.

In *some* regions it is unwise to schedule the interview in advance, however for London, I doubt it matters very much. Places where these processes can drag out for months, the medicals can expire while still waiting for a visa approval, etc.. London has a very quick turnaround time in comparison to say the Dominican Republic where it can take 24 months just to get to the interview date.

I just wanted to interject this here, its just important for people reading who are curious about pre-scheduling and who happen to be going through one of the tougher consulates.

Well shucks. So much for trying to make any sense of how things work! Thanks for responses, though. As mentioned, at least we'll get it out of the way. One less thing to worry about = 2 less gray hairs for me.
