Yikes petitioner doesn't have to show every speeding ticket correct??

In 4a. of "Criminal Information", if a fine was over $500 it was necessary to declare it.

Received our RFE. For a speeding ticket (petitioner) so we have to send away for files (Switzerland) 🙄 Here's hoping the Swiss are as efficient as we think!

Good luck, I hope you get the files quickly.

I'm sure we will. It's nothing serious so it's just another waiting game :) We've been patient so far. We know what the issue is now.

I'm like...really proud of myself though because everything else was perfect!

ALSO: FYI I assumed the RFE was because I did not have my letter of intent to marry (only the petitioner did). But there was enough supporting evidence to show we were going to get married. Interesting right?

It really isn't anything serious, and I do think you will not have too many issues with getting the paperwork you need, from what I have dealt professionally with Germans and Swiss, they tend to have their admin stuff in order.

And you should absolutely feel proud, dealing with paperwork and admin stuff is always a bit of an uneasy thing, even when you have done it a lot.

It makes sense though, if you have actual other evidence of intent to get marry (like venue booking or communication with a marriage officiant), that it won't be a crucial thing to have both letters of intent. Each case is a story of it's own, as it's been said many times on here. 😊

That is so cool indeed! And you should be proud because not everyone is so detailed. Interesting that they didn't question the missing letter, but it kind of makes sense if they pieced together other evidence you included. They are so used to seeing so many petitions on a daily basis that I'm sure once they take a quick look over the papers, their mind is already made up as to whether it's good or not. 😄

BTW: going over the lists of potential interview questions with your partner is a great way to trigger hurt feelings. "Wait! How did you not know that about me??" (Somehow, in the thousands of hours of deep conversations we've had, he missed that I went to college for two years.)

Can you imagine if other couples had to be quizzed on their partner before getting married??

Why can't they just interview me? I know everything! 😂

That would be a little strange if they quizzed the beneficiary about every single detail about the petitioner. 🙂 But I guess you would know the most important things about each other.

How about 10yrs ago ticket, are they able to track that?

It depends where I guess? We volunteered the information, I wouldn't hide anything from them as they do background checks and that.

It doesn't say anything about a time limit

"Have you ever been arrested, cited, charged, indicted,
convicted, fined, or imprisoned for breaking or violating
any law or ordinance in any country, excluding traffic

violations (unless a traffic violation was alcohol- or drug-
related or involved a fine of $500 or more)?"

If it's  criminal they can track it and you better believe they can.

We also only had one actual letter of intent to marry. For him, I just included a copy of a letter he wrote to me. He always signs and dates his letters and his intention was very clear, so I figured that would be sufficient.

You are lucky because people have gotten a RFE for only one letter of intent. Consider yourself blessed. Ideally they want two letters. Good for you!

Thank you! I asked him and he said it was not $500 or more. It was the minimum fine he said. I was worried because we didn’t declare any traffic violation.
