Thank you for sharing! I was confused because the graphic @Greenbaum shared doesn't include my husband's country Dominican Republic, but I knew they had cases.  They are on this list.  Very helpful!

@J&S12 It's good to see that you are all over the forum gleaning knowledge at every thread. I like to see that, this will ensure you are more than ready to tackle that AOS when the time comes. Also best not to sit still, always look ahead, look out for what's coming. I realize due to the current situation, it might tend to make you lethargic, but please don't let it do that to you.

Hopefully all this will just add to your determination...so far you are on the ball considering everything!

Aww, thanks @Sarge2155! I appreciate your kind words! They mean alot. I'm trying to learn and prepare as much as I can ahead of time so that we won't be in a panic and blindsided. lol We are determined now more than ever! Very appreciative to you and @Greenbaum for your wisdom and experience! Waiting on the ALL CLEAR to book the medical and interview again. We're going ahead and filling out what we can for the AOS paperwork. The I-944 is just so confusing.

To all others waiting, Our time is next! Hang in there!

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Cuba
Timeline

Just wanted to share an update to commiserate with this group since we’ve been in it together for a while now 😊Like many of you my fiancée and I find ourselves in a tough position with this global pandemic. We interviewed in December in Guyana. He’s Cuban so we had to travel to Guyana to do the interview. He had some changes on his lung xrays that meant he had to do a sputum test and return back to Cuba for a minimum of 8 weeks to await the results of the culture. We got the results, they were normal. He then had to send his passport back to Guyana via DHL, wait for the visa to be issued, the embassy in Guyana issued the visa and sent it back Monday 3/16.

His passport sat in Panama for 8 days when they closed their borders and and then finished the path to Havana. He received it a couple weeks ago, the day after Cuba suspended all commercial flights.

Because he had the issues with his X-ray, his medical is only good for 3 months (rather than 6) and because there are no embassy functions in Cuba, we don’t know what it will mean for an extension. Now I’m trying to stay calm about the pending immigration suspension here and waiting and hoping for flights out of Cuba soon. All of these stops and starts and ”almost made its” are weighing on us, but we’re positive and determined overall.

I know many of you are at a standstill with your loves far away from you too. Sending you all love and wishing you peace and calm in the middle of this storm 💓

First place you need to do is contact the embassy and see what they can do or what they say. I have seen one other case where the visa was about to expire, and they expedited her out of the country. Of course, your country and the US were accommodating flights but limited.

Thank you. I will reach out to the embassy and see what they say. As of right now, no flights

are leaving Cuba. But I’m hoping that will change soon. I’ll keep you all posted!
