Hi everyone,

I am really confused. I just got the I130 approved for f2B (unmarried child over 18 of resident). I am really excited, but also confused. I thought the whole process take 5/6 years.

Our PD is January 2019. It says that the case will be sent to NVC, but I am not sure if they will make us wait there until the visa is current. I dont want to get any hopes imaging that we will be done with this process in 6 months when it may take many years. Any idea if that is normal? I thought USCIS only approved forms when the visas were availaible.

ANy comment would be helpful!!

Thanks!

The i-130 is the petition filed by your mother/father.. it usually does not take long for it to be approved once USCIS can see it is a legitimate relationship. The priority date is currently at December 01 2014 under your  f2b category.. you have to wait until it is after January 2019.. which might take several years.. unless it skips a few years..which is possible, but does not happen often. When your priority date is current NVC will send an email, and let you know what to do next.

It will be sent to NVC  when the PD is nearly current. As the category is number limited, it takes years for the PD to be current. You can check what PD is current for the visa category and country on this link
