Does not really matter why she wants to come, concentrate why she needs to go home.

Yes, for sure... That was the main thing, but not many ppl on age above 50 has jobs or personal business, most of them ( specially in my home country ) they kinda retired and sitting home doing some hobby stuff. But even in this case we provided  - bank statement, docs that she has car and house, plus she travels ... And the end was sad anyway..

Well, maybe in your country, but a more widespread retirement age is generally around 65. I  would find it quite strange to be somewhere where most over 50s were retired. Even the ones I know who can afford to generally keep working because they enjoy their work/don't want to get bored. My dad has only just been forced in the past year to stop working because of ill health, and he's 76.

Hello there, i have quit same situation. My mom was denied last year for coming in US for my wedding, which was soo dissapointemt moment as for me, even more for my mom.. Even 99.9% we were sure that she will get the visa, bcuz we literally brought all docs, but you were right the didn't even look or asked. Few personal question and  - denied.
But next year we wanna try again, bcuz i want my mom be here for my baby birth... and now you gave me some fear that they might denied her again, bcuz they will consider the visit as baby sitting...😦😯😯...

So, it mean better to find another reason ????? When i thought if that the wedding of her daughter wasn't a great reason, maybe birth of her future 'and only" grandchild, will be better to melt their heart.... ((((((

I concur what @Boiler and @Going through just said. One of the biggest mistakes people make when applying for visitor visas is concentrating too much on why they want to come to the US and not why they must return to their home country.

The problem is too many people in the past used visitor visa to live and work unauthorized in America. This is why it is so difficult to get visitor visas from certain countries.

If all of your mother's ties are in America, like you, then she may continue to get denied. Because the CO may think she can leave her country behind and stay and live with you and her new grandchild. What if after your mom sees your child, she is so overjoyed that she doesn't want to leave its side anymore. So she decides to stay and overstay her visa? This is what a CO is probably thinking when reviewing a case.

The CO don't want to know why your mother wants to come to the birth of your child or you wedding. S/he wants to know why you mother must return home after a short trip.

Now, i have no idea... - i think its kinda unfair..😓😓😔😔

It is unfair but the ones to blame is the people who abused visitor visa previously. They have messed it it for people like you who genuinely want to visit and not break any rules.

@Unlockable I agree with all your thoughts regarding CO interview, and how i texted earlier, except that the main reason wasn't just a wedding and we concentrated on it, as i wrote we tried to prepare some documents that we thought could help us. The only reason -  my mother doesn't work, but by the msg of @SusieQQQ, that my mom has to find a job to get a chance to be approved.. I don't wanna describe all detail why my mother doesn't work on her age above 50. But this is should not be a main reason.

I just guess an interview its more like a lottery - somebody lucky and get it easy, and somebody unluck...

Bcuz there is a lot of situation i know when ppl been approved with even worst background and less provement of them that they might not can come back even up to day now.

Anyway, i thanks that here i found some information for me, that certain stuff i need to tell to my mom to avoid to tell in CO.

My mother in law just got approved for her B2. Her visa agent told her retired, married parents/grandarents that own property are usually slam dunks. MIL is Chinese however, where AFAIK approval rates tend to a bit higher than in the Phillipines. Couple of points:

1. My MIL after her interview talked to a guy who also got approved for a

B2- on his third attempt!

2. The CO read our invitation letter, asked a few questions about it, and seemed quite satisfied since it corroborated her story.

3. My MIL is retired, owns a small home with my FIL, she is not super well off, and never traveled outside of Mainland China except to HK. So it is possible to get a visa even if you're not super well off.
