Hi - reaching out to folks on this site to see if anyone has had experience or could share advice on rescheduling an IR-1 interview with the US consulate in Lagos. My husband (applicant) has attempted to reach out to the consulate several times via the email they provided per their instructions but has not received a response to date. We are unable to attend our scheduled interview for Oct. 7 due to medical reasons (expecting the birth of our first child). I am worried our case may be dismissed as a no show due to poor communication. Has anyone gone through this successfully or unsuccessfully? Any thoughts or advice would be helpful.

Does that mean you are both in Nigeria and the child will be born there?

Hi - no we are both currently in the US for the birth. I am a US citizen and my husband is a Nigerian citizen. He is visiting on a tourist visa with intent to return to Nigeria to complete the IR-1 process.

Thanks for the clarification.  You can keep using all means of contacting the Embassy including you calling the US Citizens Services number.  You can also contact NVC for assistance.  This all in addition to whatever the Consulate's website indicates to do about rescheduling.

Ok thanks for the advice. Seems like a black hole but will keep trying.

Maybe somebody with more Nigeria specific experience will have additional ideas.

Not helpful to you at this point but for other possible readers, you knew about when your child would be born and could have delayed at NVC or requested a December interview BEFORE the interview date was assigned during the NVC stage.
