Ok now I see he's definitely taking advantage of you my dear! Oh how sad! Notary is like $2 per document! JESUS!!! He's made a fortune off you!😳 ask him if the $2000 is both i485 fees and his filing fees..so he doesn't pull a fast one on you again! Keep your eye open for another attorney with repute and some integrity..you might be needing one!πŸ’

Good moral character.

I’ve lived at the same address for the last 3 years before filing so I sent a police background check from that county when I filed. Should I do another one and send? Also, what else can I submit to prove good moral character? Letter from friends? Write a statement?Β
Thank you!Β

Ok that's great! Since you've been there 3yrs prior to applying for i360! And yes for me..there were letters from friends and family..nothing excess..just about 3 or so..together with a declaration from me! You're almost done..approval in sight! πŸ‘€πŸ˜ŠπŸ™

Hello everyone,

I send my form 1 360 in about 50 days ago. I received a NOA afterwards.Β I just saw the status change that they have send an RFE.Β  I didn't expect that to happen that first. I am applyingΒ from abroad. I am wondering if this is Normal to receive an RFE less than 2 months after sending the application. I guess I just have to wait to see what the Rfe is for.Β

Thank you. This is actually a ref issued when they received my package in May. But since they had my address wrong on file, I just got it thanks to my congressman today. I think I still have a bit of a wait before approval but I’ll send a reply to the RFE next week!Β
Thanks

Very normal. Request for initial evidence..maybe your supporting documents is not complete..when it's completed then they'll send you the prima facie determination.

@Stillwinning!!!😊 thanks for the info. I am wondering if someone applying from outside usa can receive a prima facie determination?.

I really hope the RFEΒ Β is a simple one.Β

Β

@Ana FLΒ I hope they ask for something like that. I have lived in the same place for 10 years I send a police report and two letters to supportΒ Β that.

My worst fear is to be asked to prove having lived with the abuser. I was only visiting him so I have no Bill's or anything in shared names.Β Β I wrote an explanation for lack of these.Β  And i gave flight tickets of when I was in usa visiting my husbandΒ few times etc.

Hey guys need yourΒ advice,

my lawyer and i had agreement but recently he wants to charge me more money.

i already paid him 2,230$ i did agree to pay extra fee on translation (around the 18$ per page) but he wants to charge me extra on the shipping via Fedex as well!!! Around the 60$!! So basically he charge me total amount of 3000$ (this is only on i360 with Β nothing more and after approval i will need to pay extra 2000$ to file i485 etc) i feel made, like he is taking advantage of my situation!Β

He didnt do nothing!! I obtain by myself my abuser birth certificate, police clearance report from both home country and US, the translation was bad, like they use google translate, and i fix it! It is normal?!? Β What to do? Its crazy!! He just drinking my money but not really did something to improve my case( didn't even guide me how to write my declaration or witness declaration)Β

what do you think?Β

He charged me now 3000$ only for i-360 (filling from abroad) but after approval i will need to pay extra 2000$ (not included USCIS fee) its seems to me like he took all the money for himself ( I neededΒ to pay notary 4 times around 50$ for signature so this was extra 200$ ) he also recently mentioned that if i will need waiver for overstay i will need to pay 5000$ more!!Β

what do you think? I feel like this is crazy but im not really familiar with all this process.. :(

Wow. So if you are filing the 360 from abroad- meaning you are NOT in the US right now there is no 485 used. When filing 360 abroad you file the 360 and once its approved it goes to NVC then Embassy where you interview. They take your passport and will print a visa in it. You use that to enter the US and once you enter you are a permanent resident. You get the actual greencard mailed to you at that point. There is also no waivers needed for VAWA as overstay is not considered for VAWA petitioners. You should not be paying for the 485 or a waiver.Β  Your attny does not seem to know anything about VAWA, specifically overseas filings. Consider removing them from your case and completing whats left on your own.

he is not charging you a lot. Please be assured he is not after your money, as of now anyway. I paid more than this and I have to pay extra for any paperwork like renewals etc

Β

you good :)Β

Β

edit: I read more. Yea, this lawyer sounds shady... for what it’s worth, if you do hire another lawyer, I am sure they can obtain another copy of the documents already submitted but it will take a long time. You did not make copies of everything for yourself? Always make copies for yourself and ask the lawyer to give you the copy of any and all forms they submit, I do. It just makes sense to keep control of your future... ( yeas, I have become annoyingly controlling of my business since I went through this horrible experience)Β

Β

for now, play nice and try to get a copy of your records. Be gentle but firm, since you are not here, I would advise against antagonizing your lawyer.Β

Hello all,
I know this must have been answers before. Please when is the appropriate time to file form l-824 follow join?
Is it when petition I-360 is approved and you have the approval letter for it, or when the green card interview is approved and one has the approval letter or green card proper?
Kindly advise.

I learned that you have to be a LPR to file follow join! So yeah you have to have your Greencard approved first!πŸ‘
