Dear VJ family,

Today I received my green card in the mail!

Thanks everyone for being part of the journey!

And for all those who are waiting still, don’t worry, your time will come. Stick with patience and prayers.

Additionally be proactive regarding your case. I kept inquiring about my case via congressperson at every stage i.e. VAWA reciept, first EAD, EAD renewals, VAWA delay, Approval notice, transfer notice and interview as well. Believe me, they ALWAYS act when pushed/asked by congress!

Thanks and God bless! Keeping you’ll in my prayers!

Congratulations 🎉🎈🎊!

Hi guys. Does anyone know which office the congressperson should contact for a pending I—485 after VAWA approval? My congressperson contacted NBC and didn’t get a response in over 6 weeks. Do they have to contact Vermont or the local office?

follow up with your congressman again

Hello @Sandanj,

I need your advise. My EAD is pending renewal since Feb 15, when fingerprinting review was completed. I informed my attorney that my renewal application was sent to NBC instead of Vermont, reason for the delay. This is October.

I just got off phone with him now after several text and e-mail amd he insist that the delay was deliberate by the present administration, that he had sent follow up online and that all he could do. I told him that the application was sent to wrong address NBC instead of Vermont, he said even at that they will send it to Veromnt and he doesn't have to send letter to that effect.

I am going crazy right now. I need the EAD to stay on at work. Kindly advise me on what i can do. Should i contact the congressman for help? Can they help in this situation? Since my attorney see no reason to follow up with a letter to Vermont to move it from NBC. Since February.

Please advise!!!

Only way to move it along is with your congress person, with an employer letter for expedition request... After receiving this NBC will transfer to Vermont Service Center. NBC is taking more than 8 months to process EAD Renewals.

I got a letter from USCIS today saying to speed up your application we transferred your EAD application to Boston Local office !!
My EAD application was sent to Missouri by lawyer incorrectly and i got a notification online that it was transferred  to another office .. i thought it was transferred to vermont .. but the letter says it was transferred to Boston !!
Any explanation for that !

USCIS will be transferring cases to Service Centers to reduce backlog,  but not to Local offices, Local offices does not process EAD, usually after arriving to Local office is than transfer to Vermont Service Center. I received the same notification with my EAD Renewal first was transfer to my Local Office NYC and than was transfer to Vermont Service Center....  Everything eventually will move forward to Vermont

I believe it's a backlog problem..same happened to me..took a long time to get response! No matter the office they contact, they are able to get information especially since you signed the privacy release form! The delay will have you constructing all kinds of scenes..but it'll be ok!😊👍

I just heard from the congressperson. NBC said that my file is at the National Records Center and they’re waiting for the New York Field Office to request the file to determine what’s next.

I have never heard of anything like that, is that normal? I thought the National Records Center is where you place a FOIA, which I have not.
@sandranj do you happen to know anything about this?

thanks for your help!

The NBC will send the form I-765 to Vermont and, your attorney doesn't have to ask NBC to do this, but it will take a while ok.

The National records Center is located at the same location as the NBC. Your case is with the NBC.

To expedite EAD or AOS your attorney must submit the request to  VCS not NBC.

Not only for FOIA. This center is also in Missouri so is part of NBC.

National Records Center also is a  record keeping center it helps cutting the time spent on file retrieval, So it does not take months for a file to be sent, check and verify is like an easy access center to keep file ready to go at the request of the locals offices. Also ensuring that all records match electronic data files.

But I think the wait time is our NYC local office with the biggest backlog in history.

Gotcha. Does the local office wait start when the file reaches the local office? I have been waiting a year now since my VAWA was approved and I hope this doesn’t mean that I have to wait another 12/18 months now after it has just been sitting there for 12 months at the NBC.... 😞😫😭

Hey dear you should ask your congressman to enquire also about your i485 alongside the EAD! To move things along...some people did not have to wait that long...
