I think my lawyer is not well organized I'm not even sure he submitted all the materials because I asked him a copy of the police and shelter letter but he couldn't find it. I think he doesn't know what he is doing and I was very naive to hire him. But I will submit the shelter letter again and try to get the evaluation done. It is my biggest challenge now.

Oh my God! All VAWA petitioners need to be in this forum! I really learned so much here! Alright then..what's done is done! Simply do what you have to now to mitigate the situation!💁

yes! Exactly! This forum is MUCH MORE helpful and knowledgeable then most of the lawyers who are using us when we are under time pressure and in distress from abuse.

Nailed it!!! When I came across this community, I immediately regretted hiring an attorney who I have to lead instead of the other way round! This is not to say all cases don't need attorneys..no! There are clearly some cases that require the touch of a competent attorney no doubt! Key word 'competent'👍

Hi everyone!!! What do you think about this...🤔

I contacted my congresswoman to inquire about my case... after 2 weeks I got an update

to explain simple... my point is... 1-change of address update (not my abuser address)

2- my request of an AP outside processing time and 3- if they already transferred my I-360 approved to my local office

so today I got an online update...

my AP got transferred... great!

I haven’t heard anything about my change of address (so the congresswoman will inquire again) Done... but look at this

USCIS update my case under my EAD saying that this case (work authorization) was transferred to another office... really??? I already have that work permit from May and it is a C-31 when I got my Vawa approved!!!!

Do you think... that could means that they transfer my whole case to my local office???

You mentioned that you received a RFE requesting prove of abuse such as Psychological evaluation, police report or your own statement. Meaning your lawyer may have not sent this documents, and you are lucky because VAWA officer does need to sent RFE anymore they can just make a decision and denied case base on a skeleton application.. Tried to gather as much as you can.

Listen to the advice of people here. It’s a shame you said you submitted your application March 2018 that’s going to almost 2 years . I believe if you give USCIS what they want you’ll be approved. GO AND GET A DETAILED PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION. Make sure, your psychologist is experienced with dealing with DV victims and vawa applicants . See, if you can get your police reports again from the Police Department and the shelter records too..your lawyer need to get his s**t together .

I was issued  three  Prima Facie until I get VAWA approved. USCIS automatically send the extension letter. I received my extension 30 days after the first one expired. Sometimes it can take 60 days for them to send it in the mail.

Hi! Thanks a lot.. My lawyer called me and just arrived :)

Hello all,
My 1year Prima Facie expires early March 2020. When is the appropriate time to apply for renewal? I don't want to take chances with automatic renewal because my college financial aid for Spring 2020 is on hold.
Can I renew by myself or my attorney has to do it?
And what should be submit for renewal?
Thanks all for advise.

They usually sent prima facie by themselves. But you can send a written request a month before

I just saw now your second post .FIRE YOUR ATTORNEY, and let her know through registered letter why you decided to fire her, write one by one of her mistakes, and I would ask some money back.

Yes, correct her mistakes and  submit to USCIS a copy of your letter firing your attorney and a copy of the post office receipt as well. Two people from VJ got their money back after they had their VAWA cases denied because of mistakes made by the attorneys.I wrote a nasty letter to them, I didn't sign they signed, and one of the attorney  emailed him saying  "clearly the letter was written by an attorney'', but he gave the $6.000 back to the guy. Of course your case is not a case to get the whole money back but yes she should return some money considering that you need to hire a new attorney.Make your case man.

Lesson to all incompetent attorneys:  Do not irk, enrage, or offend the sensibilities of the highly ethical Sandra!

Life lesson, at least sometimes:  99% of all attorneys give the remainder a bad name. :P

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

There is no "public charge" bar to receiving naturalization in the United States. Public Charge rules applies in those Cases Where You Do Have to Show “Admissibility” and in those cases Sponsorship is required, AOS, Family Petitions Etc...  You do not have to show that you are “admissible” to become a naturalized U.S. citizen. You need to show US Citizen Naturalization requirements.

USCIS makes it clear: https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/public-charge

*Don't worry and get your health insurance through the Marketplace at that cost you can afford  according with your income.

Thank you @FeDaniela .

One more thing please , I know might this question sounds stupid 🤭.

Would I still qualify for Naturalization without having health insurance ?

Thanks .
