Dear Community,

I just got a call from my lawyers assistant and she asked to keep it confidential.
She told me that she recommends me to fire a lawyer because she is not acting in clients best interest.
So, the question is should I fire her right now? Or not?
The thing is my I360 is submitted, and I think application is good overall.
Just some mistakes by lawyer with like names of people, etc, references to wrong attachments, etc, etc.
My lawyer is just not submitting for example my divorce decree because she has a different strategy she says, so I am going to submit it by my own.
She is trying to get RFEs so she charges me more you know...and I clearly see it and ask right question she does not like.
Be careful with lawyers.

If you don't trust your attorney fire her. USCIS is not obligated to send RFE ANYMORE,and if she is acting  in a dishonest or immoral way she can have your case denied.

I just saw now your second post .FIRE YOUR ATTORNEY, and let her know through registered letter why you decided to fire her, write one by one of her mistakes, and I would ask some money back.

Yes, correct her mistakes and  submit to USCIS a copy of your letter firing your attorney and a copy of the post office receipt as well. Two people from VJ got their money back after they had their VAWA cases denied because of mistakes made by the attorneys.I wrote a nasty letter to them, I didn't sign they signed, and one of the attorney  emailed him saying  "clearly the letter was written by an attorney'', but he gave the $6.000 back to the guy. Of course your case is not a case to get the whole money back but yes she should return some money considering that you need to hire a new attorney.Make your case man.

Thank you for your advise! I think I need help!

Good morning everyone,

I'm a male VAWA filer and I received a RFE for abuse. The letter is asking additional evidences such as Psychological evaluation, shelter, police report or my own statement. When I was filling in March 2018, my lawyer didn't advise me to do psychological evaluation and I didn't know either that I should have done it. I don't know if an evaluation will be relevant today as the abuse happened end of 2017 almost 2 and half years and I significantly improved comparing to 2017.

So can I just re-write my statement and explain that I didn't know or advised to  to do the evaluation or should I just attempt to do an evaluation based on my current state. I'm afraid that the evaluation will not be that convincing as it's has been a while since the abuse occurred.

My lawyer is telling me to go get an evaluation but I just don't want to waste my time and money if it won't weight much.

I really need your help Assap.

Thank you

Do you have police report? Friends and family can write too..if you have police report you should be fine..your lawyer like many others don't know much about VAWA! That evaluation is great to proof abuse! I'm not sure if you can run through sessions now..but give it a go..you just never know!💁

Ok then it's not looking so bad! The police report is good..but see if you can get a letter from a counselor or psychological evaluation from the past abuse you suffered..just make the effort and see what they can aid you with..you'll be fine ok?😊👍 write your own abuse story too..make it detailed!

Even with Police report and shelter letter, they are asking for evaluation. Did you verify you lawyer submitted all this documents.

I think my lawyer is not well organized I'm not even sure he submitted all the materials because I asked him a copy of the police and shelter letter but he couldn't find it. I think he doesn't know what he is doing and I was very naive to hire him. But I will submit the shelter letter again and try to get the evaluation done. It is my biggest challenge now.
