I need to really thank the post author who took much time in sharing his experience step by step and giving us all a confidence that this importing of Car can be done from Canada to USA especially the ones which do not have a TPMS installed in them.

Here is my situation.

I own a Hyundai Santa Fe V6 2012 SUV and based on this post guidance, I already got a Letter from my Manufacturer stating that my vehicle is compliance with all Canadian Standards and also Federal standards except TPMS.

I inquired Les Schwab tires for installing the after market TPMS. The Mechanic told me it will cost around 320$ (inclusive of the TPMS sensors, labor charges and configuration etc) and I will be given the receipt.

Where I need your help is that, the Mechanic said since my Vehicle does not have a provision, upon fixing the Sensors in all 4 tires and then configuring and connecting with the Computer Brain of my vehicle (I don't know what exactly he was referring to) only, we will know if the TPMS will work or not. My only concern is that, Is this how everyone got installed and configured? If it does not work, will the Border officer accept considering the TPMS has been installed or will they check if it's working or not? Also I don't want to get this TPMS configured and unnecessarily disturb the actual parts of my car.

If someone can really throw some light, will really be helpful.

I moved from Edmonton, AB to Seattle, WA and currently reside here. I am yet to get clearance at the border (the officer did not actually ask for any documents of my Car when I actually drove and entered the Country 1 month back) without which I cannot import my Car.

Please help Friends.
