It's not YOUR money that I have. I earned it, every penny.

So if the regulations that were responsible for lifting a lot of ships pre-deregulation are so evil, why in a post-deregulation world are so few benefiting?

Generically speaking, dear Layla. Let's try this again: When Elizabeth Warren wants to take your money and spread it around to people who didn't earn it, that is not capitalism. That is theft.

Because the government has made it almost impossible for capitalism to work effectively. Fortunately we have an administration in place that is going to tear down those walls, and putting those walls to better use at our southern border.

Umm, the markets actually do work for more than just the evil rich.  Her proposals for taxing the rich as well as the folks that make up, or utilized the goods or services of corporations do not sound very capitalist to me. As to yourself, you are under no obligation in taking your ex’s money.  It is also interesting how many of the super rich claim they should pay more taxes.  If they want, they could simply send more money to the IRS, it is their choice which should not be imposed on others.

There is such a thing as the social contract. We all need to give a little to benefit from a strong CAPITALIST economy. We don't have a pure capitalist system anyway. This is a mixed economy.

Yes, I realize the likes of Gates or Buffet only say that as a means to sound compassionate, or to keep the Leftist off their backs.  These folks did not get where they are by throwing away money.

Bill Gates is an idiot. Bill Gates has thrown billions at eradicating polio. He has failed spectacularly. And the reason is simply that you cannot throw money at a problem and expect it to be fixed. If you want to eradicate polio, you invest in business. You create strong economies that will not only create jobs, but build healthy infrastructure. There is a reason that the modernized west is polio free, and it has f*** all to do with Bill Gates' generosity.

If we are paying taxes we are giving a little already.  However, Senator Warren apparently thinks that is not enough, so she wants to confiscate more.  Of course she knows better than we do, so I guess we should just capitulate to her desires.

The social contract is that we don't all just murder each other. Beyond that, it's just a bunch of blather that lay-abouts in beards and jackets with arm patches like to get high and talk about to make themselves feel smart.

A strong capitalist economy is one that creates wealth for shareholders. All else flows from there. When the government isn't trying to muck about with it (as Warren would do), it works incredibly well.

I'm not up on your American history as much as I probably should be, so I'm not qualified to answer in detail. But to my understanding, it was a last ditch effort to fix a completely destroyed economy. So you're suggesting that a last ditch effort "new deal" be used to turn a fantastic economy into... what? No wonder the Democrats lose.

Repeating what I said, there's no need to be so condescending. I'm an adult and perfectly capable of holding positions that are not the same as yours. Now regretting having your back earlier. 😕

Really not trying to be condescending. You made a point, I countered it. The beards and jackets comment was supposed to be funny. Into my third tumbler of a very nice scotch, and it was utterly hysterical to me. ;)

Well I am at home early too. My manager told me to take the rest of the afternoon off because things were slow so I walked home via the liquor store. So I may join you in a drink or two and maybe THEN I'll think what you have to say is funny.
