Leaving/entering the USA for first time since greencard, bringing back dog

Hi,

I just got approved for my greencard through aos and expect to receive it in a few days. I plan to drive to my hometown in Canada a few weeks after I get the card to see family/friends for the first time since the process. I will also be picking up my dog and we will drive back home to the US with her. I am a Canadian citizen.

What kinds of documents do I need for my dog? Is a general vaccination sheet okay? She is an older dog but in general good health. A bit nervous to use my greencard for the first time, but excited!

Thank you

I've gone both ways with my pups.  What is required to cross the border is proof of rabies vaccination.  They also recommend getting an international health certificate filled out at the vet.

You don't need it for land travel, but you would for air travel.

Great, thanks so much! Am I right that the process for land travel is the same in that all I need is my greencard/canadian passport to come back through to the USA?

Yup. Your endorsed visa is your green card until the hard copy comes in the mail.
