Vaccination

I’m from Brazil, but the question I think it fits for all.

I know we have to set an appointment with a doctor and one of his requests is to get our “vaccination” profile.

Someone knows which one we need to take and if I can try to take them now – instead of waiting his order?

Best regards and GOOD LUCK for everyone!!!!

Love conquers all.

You can definitely get the vaccinations earlier! You only need them when you apply for AOS once you're married. If it's cheaper to get it done in your home country, I definitely recommend it.

The ones you need are MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), TD (tetanus and diptheria) and varicella (chicken pox). If you have immunity to those already, you need to show proof that you've had the booster shots recently or you've taken a titres (blood) test showing that you're already immune to it.

I know personally I got the MMR and TD done at the doctor's, and obtained a sheet showing the results of my blood test for immunity to chicken pox.

Hope that helps you out! :)

Especially in the case of Brazil, I'd advise you go straight to a "Posto de Saúde" and get them all for free. Get your childhood record and take it to the Posto de Saúde, and ask them to check if you have all your vaccines up to date, and which ones they can give you (according to your age). Start now 'cus if you're missing any, chances are you need the 3 dose vaccination, which means it will take a few months to get them all.

I started 4 months prior to my doctor's appointment, and still I had to take two shots here, and I paid for those (and it's not very cheap).

I ended up not needing the blood serum test for chicken pox, 'cus I had it when I was 19 years old, and the doctor believed it was obvious I remembered having it, which was proof enough (he could also see the marks left on my face).

The only vaccine I can add from the above list is that you should get the BCG, for tuberculosis, if you don't have it already, as it's a normal requirement for brazilians (even if the embassy approves your case without it).

Thank you! :)

I took 2 at the "Posto de Saude" and the other 2 I have to pay for them - but I need to wait 1 month between.

According the time line, the 3rd one I shall receive there - so I hope.

Oh God!!! That waiting kills!!! :(

But we keep moving forward!

Best wishes for all!

If you are already an adult but never had chicken pox, what do you do? Is there some vaccination they can give for this because I thought it was something you should only get as a child. Anyone know?
