Green card renewal

Hi everyone, I got married in August 2016 with a US citizen and I waited for my interview for about a year, I got my visa (cr1) and I traveled to the US in March 2017 I had 2 years green card in March 2020 my card will expire and I heard that I need to apply for the renewal before 90 days of the expiration date what I don't understand why there's condition in my green card it's 2 years and what I need to file is there a form and what else I must send thank you

It's not really a "renewal," you need to apply to remove conditions (your GC is valid for 2 years because you're a conditional resident, hence the CR in CR-1).  You are a conditional resident because you were married to a US citizen for less than 2 years when you received the green card.  If your petition to remove conditions is successful, you'll receive a 10 year green card.

 

You need to file form I-751.  There are lots of helpful guides in stickied comments in the ROC forum here on VisaJourney.

You might want to double check those dates because 2 years from Mar 2017 was March 2019.

The calculation is done at POE. If the marriage length is less than 2 years at POE then they are conditional resident:

Yes u are right it's 03/06/18 and expire 03/06/20

Ok, that makes me feel better. Yes, just file the I-751 BEFORE your 2 years GC expires and you are good to go.

So they calculate it since I'm resident in the United States not since the marriage date because I'm married a year before my residency

No. You're talk about 2 different things. What he was saying is, if on the date that you entered the US, you had been married for more than 2 years. You would have gotten a 10 years green card, and not have to do the I-751. But since that obviously did not happen, you will have to do the I-751. Does it make sense?
