I usually agree with most of your posts (at least the centric ones), but Imma hafta go with Boris on this one.  It's been true for thousands of years.  You might successfully pooh-pooh the science behind it being a DNA thing, but it is certainly encoded to our society and psyches at a minimum.

I have a background in genetics and that kind of behavior is absolutely hard wired to a degree in our evolution process. Survival of the fittest. 

 

Thats why generally speaking women are more attracted to tall athletic men and men tend to be more attracted to birthing hips ans ample bosoms.  Generally speaking.

    Of course behavior is hard wired to a degree. It’s only to a degree. Trying to extend that degree to explain why someone would watch ghostbusters or not is just silly.

   You didn’t. That’s why I responded to Boris’ post. 

 

   It’s OK to recognize the influence that genetics has on behavior, and even to accept that some of it is hardwired. There’s no reason to extrapolate it to everything we do. Behavior also has learned components and adaptive components.

Movies often reflect an 'ideal' like many forms of media. An ideal that is neither realistic but inherently false.

Ghostbusters wasn't a terrible movie because it used an all-female cast. It was terrible because... it was terrible and didn't understand the previous subject material. The script was flat, the acting was poor, and it was poorly directed. Of course when people attempted to criticize it on those points we were told we were being sexist, which of course is a clever way for the marketing execs to hide behind a terrible product that did a disservice to women and source material. But that is exactly what a very male dominated industry does.

Interesting we got on movies when the theme of this thread is about how nasty the Leftist can be to their own.  Maybe that is also genetic.
