I've been having a look through the list of documentation required to submit along with the I-130 Petition.

In the 'Evidence of Bona Fide Marriage', there's a list of pieces of evidence that you can submit, including:

- Proof of joint financial resources

- Proof of joint health care and benefits

- Children

- Affidavit of Support letters

My wife and I do not have any joint bank accounts, or health care and benefits, and we don't have any children together. So really all we have relevant to this section is Affidavit of Support letters. Obviously we have all the photos, flight details, text messages etc but not health benefits or joint finances.

Will this be enough? Or will we get a RFE if we submit a petition without joint financial resources etc?

Thanks!

It is very easy to get a petition approved by USCIS. As long as there is a legal valid marriage, they pretty will approve the I-130. That is not the problem. Usually, the Embassy/Consulate is a whole different thing. They will require a lot more evidence. So, while you should submit what you have now because you can't submit what you don't have, I would work on building those evidence in preparation for the inteview. More face time, more trips, try to get a joint bank account (why can't you, doesn't have to US bank, any bank), joint credit cards, filing US taxes as married, ....

My bank told me that he needed to have a social security number, I was not able to add him to my account... but I will try credit cards.

You are in UK not one of the high fraud countries where they use the  commingling of finances to ensure a proper and more real relationship

but your USC spouse can "at the time of tax returns"  use the W7 to do a joint return/  since UK takes out for their own tax base,  there is a tax treaty between US and UK so you are not double taxed on a US tax return

many high fraud countries with questionable relationship go thru doing join tax returns,   adding the person to US bank account by getting a ITIN,  adding to life insurance policies, deed to house with a Quick claim deed

but this is not usually expected in the US

need a ITIN you get from IRS by adding the spouse on tax returns by filing the W7 form

We just had three (very brief) affidavits of support, plus my husband had a random boat insurance policy that happened to have my name on it. We didn't include anything else. I-130 approved no problem.
As for the interview, London didn't ask for anything extra. The timing of everything was such that there wasn't even a joint tax return.

Okay, so it shouldn't be an issue if we don't have any of those sort of document then?

Have you completed the process now then?
