I just noticed a confusion in my card.

When I got married, I changed my name

from: First Name, Mom's Surname, Dad's Surname (1)

to: First Name, Dad's Surname, Husband's Surname (2)

that is how my marriage certificate looks like now. But, the IO insisted that I cannot do that and I have to change my name to:

First Name, Mom's Surname, Husband's surname (3)

I know it can be confusing, but in my country it is non traditional to use (3) and it should be (2). And now I am a little pissed because my documents are unmatching. How come they just do that now but my EAD and marriage certificate they are OK with (2). Is there a rule for that? Any advice or similar situation?

End of rant. Thank you.

That doesn't sound right at all, I know plenty of other Filipinas who have changed it to #2  as well, as that is the correct way, My Wife also has changed it that way. Our interview is in 4 days.

Here is what is on the Marriage Licence Application form for San Francisco:

I would see if you can speak to a supervisor or someone else because the IO seems to be mistaken.

Hi all I have a quick question, Our interview is in 4 days, and I see a lot of people talking about taking in an updated I-864. We are coming from a K1, and submitted that when we filed for the AOS back in March, the notice says to bring it if we haven't already submitted one. Do we need to fill out a new one?

No. Leave it be. And good luck at  your interview!

When you all say you're putting together your "interview packet" what do you mean by that? I looked at the note -- and it does list the documents you need "if not already submitted" and most, if not all, of mine already are. Do we need photo books? Written letters from friends/family? This is for an I-485.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'd just bring any additional evidence of finance co-mingling such as any new bank accounts opened, new lease, new insurance. Anything new from the time you both moved in together officially, also new photographs if you have them, any trips scheduled

They do not put a lot weight in cards and letters.
With limited evidence, definitely focus on photos but I would recommend a Word Doc with description next to each picture . It is much easier to manage for the officer and they will appreciate not having to make a bunch of copies. My officer was very thankful.
Any kind of joint memberships (gym, Costco , AAA, Mobile plans, etc) can be acquired without both needing a bank account .

Hi! Just wanted to give an update - we are APPROVED!!!

The interview was pretty easy and lasted about 20-25 minutes. It didn't really feel like an interview but more like a conversation honestly and the officer was really nice. After she swore us in, she explained how the interview was going to go and asked us if we had any new documents to provide. I said yes and while I pulled them out, she casually asked us when we met, when our relationship got serious, and when the proposal was. Then I handed her all the updated documents that we had for the I-864 (new pay stubs, W-2s etc..) and new evidence of bona fide marriage. As I was handing her all the docs, we casually chatted about them, like trips we had taken, who was in what pictures, our families etc. Then she went through the forms and updated a couple of things as necessary. Finally she had me answer all the standard "are you a criminal" type questions. After that she said she would have to do some admin stuff in the system but that she would be approving us and explained how ROC etc works. She was so nonchalant when she said that she was approving us that we didn't even realize that we had gotten it at first haha We got the email notification of new card in production within half an hour after we left!!

One thing that I thought was interesting was that she said that when the green card gets delivered, we would have to sign for it and that they would not just leave it without a signature. Which I thought was weird because I have not heard of anyone having to sign for it yet here? Wondering if that's a new thing..

All in all it was a pretty straightforward interview. I'm so so thankful for everyone here for the support through the whole process and for always being a great source of information when questions came up!

Yayyyy!!! I’m so happy for you!!

Congratulations!!

About the signature: maybe she meant to sign it for the mailman?! I really don’t know because mine was just left in the mailbox it didn’t require a signature.

yeah I think that's what she meant, to sign it for the mailman.. Honestly, it would probably be a good thing to start having people sign for their green card given how important of a document it is and how many times things get lost in the mail haha (like what happened with your EAD a while back lol)
