It can vary. For example, sometimes USCIS doesn't forward your SSN request to the SSA. Once you have the EAD in hand you can go in person to the SSA and inquire if a request is pending on their system. If there isn't a pending request, then you can submit SS-5: https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf

Thank you for the help!!!

Our journey so far:🙂

03 /12/19- Sent I-130, I-485, I-131 & I-765 (via USPS)
03/14/19 - Arrived at Chicago lock box
03/19/19- NOA1 via text (all petitions NBC)
03/22/19- Biometrics notice
03/25/19 - NOA1 via mail for AOSEAD & AP
03/30/19- NOA1 for scheduled biometrics appointment (via mail)
04/12/19- Biometrics appointment completed

(My husband has done the Biometric back in April and did the medical for the K1 visa of course).

He's good if his DS-3025 was marked complete: "K and V nonimmigrants applying for adjustment of status are not required to repeat the medical examination if the application was filed within one year of the date of the original medical examination" "If the vaccination report was properly completed at the time of the overseas examination, the officer may accept the vaccination assessment completed by the panel physician." https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-b-chapter-3

Went to SSA office today to get new social security card. My husband just showed his green card and that was it. The guy said it would come in two weeks.

For the DMV, I know it’s state specific, but in PA they give you one year. So his license expires in March 2020. Should he go now with his green card to get a new one with a longer date? Wait until February? What do you need to bring? Hate the DMW lol

After 225 days, numerous calls to USCIS, several inquiries, and my congressman’s help I finally received my EAD combo card! I am so happy!

I was starting to get a little desperate but it came just in time and now I can officially start my new job on Nov. 1st!

Now we just have to wait for the interview, which will probably still be a while since we are in slow Houston, TX. But counting my blessings!

Mine was in FL but mine expired a few days before my interview. So once I got my GC I just went to the DMV with my expired license, passport, marriage certificate and GC and was in and out. Id say he needs to wait until it's close to expiring
