Oh wow, I hope they’ll still accept the same, I don’t have 50 pages though 😅. Maybe more around 4 if you count both pages of my 1040 and my 2 W2s, they were just temporary jobs to save up money when I was going to school part time so there wasn’t much to say for those. I’ll try to attempt to get the transcript just in case but that makes me feel better in case I can’t get ahold of one in time, thanks!

My husband is self-employed so my guess is that his tax return was a bit more "elaborate" or something. More pages for that reason, I bet. But the embassy was fine with it. When he copied the tax return there were so many pages to copy that he missed one page of the 1040, so I got a 221g for that (I didn't even notice until the lady at the embassy told me about it). We emailed the missing page to the embassy just a couple of hours after the interview and that was it. Worked like a charm.

Not sure about NVC as I went for the K-1, but the embassy in Stockholm were perfectly fine with my now husband's tax return that he got from our tax guy when he filed his taxes. It was the 1040 and whatever else that goes with it, it was probably 50-60 pages or so. We never had a transcript.

You were applying for a non-immigrant visa in 2016.  Things have changed.  The correct advice has already been given to match the current date and circumstances.

However, I think this might help the OP understand that a tax return CAN BE more than just a 1040 and a couple W2 forms.

It wasn't advice, it was a personal experience from the same embassy. But thanks for chiming in with your important response.
