Hi all,

Is it required that the petitioner send the original signed affidavit of support? Or will scanned copies be enough for an interview? Same with W2s and paystubs. Thank you!

Sorry, did you read the document? I've read this and it details that I don't have to send my physical copy via mail to NVC and NVC will accept a scanned copy of the original. It does not say the beneficiary can take a copy to the interview.

From what I've read on this site, it may depend on the consulate.  Me personally, I would bring a wet signature.

I agree, but pay stubs, tax returns etc. don't have signatures anyway.  They will be copies.  Best practice is for the applicant to carry a wet signed affidavit of support to the interview.

I agree as well.  As far as any type of official document, like an affidavit of support, I feel it's more professional to carry a wet signature on those.

Perhaps it's more "professional" but that's not the reason I had in mind.  If a Consular Officer asks to see it and you don't have it, there is likely to be a delay.

I did more digging and found in the Foreign Affairs Manual of the department of state’s government website, a photocopy is sufficient evidence to i864

9 FAM 302.8-2(C)(9) (U) Submitting Form I-864, Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the Act

(CT:VISA-626; 07-10-2018)

a. (U) Notarizing and Photocopying Documentation

Required signatures do not need to be notarized. This includes the signature of the sponsor(s), or the sponsor's household members or dependents on Form I-864 and Form I-864EZ, Affidavit of Support under Section 213A of the Act; Form I-864A; and Form I-864W. Consular officers should not require ink signature on the I-864. A photocopy of the I-864 with the sponsor's signature is sufficient.

As it doesn’t haven’t to be notarized, I can sign one on the spot, technically as to NVC and the consulate it’s sufficient.

Technically, yes.  Still, the best practice is to carry the signed affidavit.  Generally, the sponsor is not present at the interview, to sign on the spot.  There ARE exceptions.
