We had our interview this morning but the interviewer didn't keep my husband's EAD card. She looked at it and gave it back. Does that mean we might not be getting a green card? I thought they were supposed to take the EAD at the interview. I'm so confused. Has this happened to anyone else?

Please read below if you're interested in a review of our Atlanta experience.

Interview Experience

We had our interview this morning. It was scheduled for 8:30 am and we were done at 9 am. It was pretty quick and easy. The woman who interveiwed us was nice, not overly friendly but not mean either. She just stuck to her job. First we were asked to raise our right hand and swear that what we say is truthful. Then she asked my husband to verify his name, address, birthdate. She looked at his passport and EAD and my driver's license. She asked him a series of yes/no questions, the usual ones about being a terriorist, polygamy, etc. Then she asked for evidence of shared relationship. I had a whole folder and I asked if she wanted the whole folder. She said just give her whatever I wanted and if she needed more, she would ask. I gave bank statements, cell phone bills, and credit card statements. She asked for taxes and W2's. I gave her my tax transcripts but I had no W2's. I provided the last 3 month's pay stubs. She said that was okay and kept those along with the 2006 tax return. She asked for pictures and we gave them to her. She kept one of the pictures with our file and gave the rest back. She told us she would look over our file later today but everything seems to look good. If she has any questions, she'll call. If we don't hear from her, then it means we've been approved and the green card should arrive in 4 weeks. That was it.

Hi Elena, I would have to guess, but based on my research it sounds like you are approved pending the name check. If so, hopefully that goes quickly and then you will get the green card.

I had my interview in Atlanta on Monday, the officer gave my EAD back and the I-94 is still in my passport.

I have to return in a provided envelope the I-693A and she said I was approved pending that document and that a return visit will not be necessary.

So, I wouldnt worry too much about having the EAD still. When your greencard comes just either destroy it or keep it for a momento.

I wouldn't worry about still having the EAD in your possession. My husband didn't even get his EAD until a couple weeks after our interview. Interviewer told us everything was fine and they were just waiting on the FBI name check.
