Hi All

 

I logged into the ceac website and the affidavit of support has been marked as incomplete. My wife’s interview is in one week. Is this something I should be panicked about?

Hello,

 

They wont allow you to enter the embassy 15 mins prior to your appointment time. The interview went well. The officer was very nice and asked very few questions. Who is the petitioner, where do they live? Have you been charged with any criminal offences? And have you travelled outside of US and Canada in the past five years? We got 221g because they requested for a document. Other than that he said everything else looks good. Hopefully they issue the visa very soon.

Hi all, 

 

I had my interview yesterday morning. All in all, took about 45 minutes - in and out. 

 

DQ: March 2022

IL: Nov 2022

Interview: Dec 2022 

 

I arrived bit early. There was no line up. The security officer asked me to wait. Since it was cold and windy outside, I waited inside the building. Few minutes later, as I was waiting in the corner, the same security office came and called me and asked me to go inside. They will allow you only 15 minutes before. It did not seem overly busy. I'd say fair amount of people in the waiting room. Strongly recommend that you check weather before hand and bring warm clothes as you might have to wait outside. 

 

Once I got inside, a staff member asked the "type" of appointment I had. She asked for my passport and found my details in her iPad or Tablet she was using. She checked me in using her device and handed me a ticket/token. 

 

Right after that is security screening. Don't bring anything extra. Just a file folder, wallet/purse and your cell phone. I was asked to turn off my cell phone and put it inside a secure locker. I had the key to locker with me at all times. 

 

Once through security, I took the elevator to go to the first floor.  The doors actually opens right in the waiting area. I proceeded to sit down and waited for my token number to be called on the small TV display. Once called, I proceeded to the requested counter/window. The lady officer was really nice. She asked for original documents - Birth Certificate, PCC, Tax Returns, Marriage Certificate, Copy of Passport and Photographs.  She just asked few basic questions such as: 

 

Who is your petitioner? 

Is she still LPR?

If this was first marriage for both of us? 

Who is the joint sponsor?

 

She was very friendly. After collecting all documents, she asked me to wait until my token # is called again. 

 

I sat in the waiting area and waited for my turn. In less than 10 minutes - I was called again to a different counter/window. This was the actual interview.

 

I was asked to take the oath  promising I would answer everything truthfully. In my case, it was a lady officer. She was LOVELY! She asked again - similar questions: 

 

-Name, DOB

-Confirmed Address - current and in US

-Who is the petitioner? What does she do? 

-What is my occupation? 

-She verified original documents and gave them back to me 

-What was my longest stay in the US? 

-If I have been arrested? 

-What other countries I have visited and when? 

-If I have been ever denied entry to US? 

-If I had read the domestic violence pamphlet? 

 

She then spent few minutes chatting with my son. Talking about cows and monkeys!   

 

In between the questions, the she was just busy typing away into the system.

 

At the end, she said: "Ok. I plan on approving your Visa. I am just waiting for few checks to come back. If everything checks out then you will receive your passport in mail within 1 to 2 weeks. I will be in touch if I need any other information". She gave me a piece of paper with title "Has your visa been approved?" which contains  instructions about checking documents' status and passport delivery options. 

 

I got out before 10:30 AM. 

 

I have been checking status @ https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx however it says READY for appointment scheduling. 

 

On https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/iv the status is not updated yet. It says "Appointment". 

 

I am only concerned about why the status is not updated yet! Feel free to share any insights if you can and I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Did you print the DS 260? If so - it is the number underneath the barcode. If not - you can login to CEAC and get it from there. A digital copy of your DS-260 is available on the site. Thanks!
