I agree, this spectrum is a bit out of date as many have shifted.  Based on the proposals of Warren, I would shift her left (Bernie is already there) , and it appears Biden has shifted more to the left as well.  I would say that Trump would fit in the BD Democrat category.

It is not that people shift, it is just we as society always move to the left, and to more liberal, some minor setbacks notwithstanding.

Odd how terms change, I grew up with Liberal meaning sort of in the middle, Labour to the left and Conservatives to the right and yes I know it is not that simple.

 

I have always been amused how often US uses terms to mean the opposite of what they have normally meant, Liberal being an obvious example, so do Societies move to extremes, well history seems so suggest they wax and wane, is there very much difference in reality between a good Fascist and a good Communist, not really.

My mother always told me that if you pay attention to how the truly rich -- like, generational wealth rich -- stay that way, you'll see how very many economies they make in their lives to stay that way. Don't lease a new car every three years -- buy a preowned car in a good make with only as many luxuries as you truly need, and keep it maintained. Invest in education and experiences, not material possessions. Learn how to cook (I did that!) and cook well for yourself so you don't eat out all the time. Keep on top of your money and make it work for you so that you don't have to work for it (guess I accidentally took care of that one). Be modest and use restraint. Give generously to those truly in need and avoid gifts because you feel sorry for someone. I try to keep to these extremely WASPy commandments as much as possible!

You have to admit we get a lot more latitude today. Maybe its because we don't have as many agenda reporters,. example... That thread Islam was right about women, or something to that effect would have been an instant no go 4 years ago.

To be clear, it may have sounded like I was pointing to you, I wasnt. I forget his handle but some greenhorn that ducked in from the upper forums, that  did not understand when we were playing with each other.

 

Actually with you and charles being permanent duty, its a lot better.
